We didn't mention water resistance in the design section because it deserves its own spot entirely. The biggest downside to the Google Pixel is the phone can't get wet. Anything more than a light splash will likely kill the phone.
In 2017 every major smartphone release is IP68 or at least IP67 dust and water resistant, and Google must do the same. This is especially true if they plan to take on Samsung and Apple. The Galaxy S8 is IP68-certified. Meaning it can submerge under 5ft of water for 30 minutes and work just fine. The iPhone 7 Plus is IP67 and can handle about 3 feet for a similar amount of time. It's a convenience and peace of mind that Google's Pixel 2 must offer. Both the HTC U11 and LG G6 are water-resistant, so we're pretty confident in saying Google's Pixel 2 will be as well. |

Pixel 2 will have a much improved camera, though it apparently won’t be all about megapixels and more about extra features instead. The Pixel is coming from a strong place for photography, unlike the previous Nexus handsets, so we hope that continues.
