In this guide we’ll explain how to change and download fonts on the Galaxy Note 8. Samsung offers a lot of customization options, and by changing the system font on the Note 8 your phone can have a fresh new look and feel.

By simply adding themes and changing the font users can make the Galaxy Note 8 look completely different from how it looked right out of the box. Making your phone more personal to you.

Like past devices, Samsung offers five unique system fonts to choose from. And while they’re nice, some will likely want to try even more. We’ll show you how to download hundreds of different styles and sizes from the pre-installed Galaxy App Store. That way you can find exactly what you’re looking for. Our video below is from the Galaxy S8, but the same steps apply to the Note 8.

How to Change the Font on Your Galaxy Note 8

  • Head to Settings from the app on your home screen, app tray, or by pulling down the notification bar and tapping the gear-shaped settings button
  • Tap Display
  • Select Screen zoom and font
  • Scroll down to Font Style and select one

As you can see, Samsung gives you five different styles to choose from. Pick what you want, then hit Apply to save your changes. The choices are Default, Gothic Bold, Choco cooky, Cool Jazz, Rosemary, or hit the + to download more fonts. You can also change the font size with the slider in this same menu. Which is helpful if you download a font that’s too big.

Keep in mind that Samsung no longer allows the use of font files from 3rd party sources. In the past, you could add anything, but now you’re limited to what’s available in the Galaxy store.

How to Download Fonts on the Galaxy Note 8

If you don’t like the five fonts provided, feel free to download from the hundreds created by developers.

  • Head to Settings from the app on your home screen, app tray, or by pulling down the notification bar and tapping the gear-shaped settings button
  • Tap Display
  • Select Screen zoom and font
  • Scroll down to Font Style and select + Download fonts

Once you hit download you’ll be directed to the Galaxy App Store. In here you can choose from a wide array of fonts. Some are free, while others cost anywhere from $0.99 to $1.79 depending on the style.

From here everything is pretty straight-forward. Find a new font style you like and hit the big blue Install button. You need to download the font first, then hit Apply to add it to your Galaxy Note 8. Now, this new font will take over your phone, and get added to the original list of five we detailed above. Additionally, if you download too many, there is an option to uninstall them. This removes that font from your list.

Repeat the steps above and get as many or as few as you’d like. Find something jolly for the holidays, bold so things are easier to read, or anything else you’re interested in. If at any moment you want to revert back to the default font just follow the instructions above. From the list of fonts select “Default” and apply the original font. While we’re talking about the Galaxy Note 8 display, check out the best screen protectors for it in our roundup below.

10 Best Galaxy Note 8 Screen Protectors

Whitestone Dome Glass (Easy Install)

Now that the Galaxy Note 8 has been available for more than a few months we've had a chance to test and try multiple screen protectors.

Our first recommendation is the Whitestone Dome Glass kit. Now don't be overwhelmed by all of this, as the process is actually extremely easy. This company sends you a screen protector, easy installation tray, a liquid for the application, and a UV light that cures the liquid. It sounds more "involved" than other screen protectors, but it's actually incredibly easy. You set it up, let the tray do the work, and use the light to cure the screen protector to your Galaxy Note 8.

This ensures a perfect fit, no gaps, and no touchscreen responsiveness issues like we've seen on the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S7 Edge from prior years. These protectors are extremely popular because they work great, and they're easy to install. Try this first, then keep reading for a few more recommendations.
