Published

on

This guide will show you how to fix Anthem problems on PC, Xbox One and PS4. This addresses Anthem problems and errors that you may run into including issues with Anthem updates and patches.

Reports are coming in of Anthem bricking PS4 consoles with the latest update in March. If you own Anthem and play on PS4, you may want to avoid playing until you know more. While we don’t have a fix for Anthem PS4 brick problems yet, we will keep you up to date with information from EA, Sony and Bioware.

While you will need to wait for EA to fix some Anthem problems, you can fix some of these issues on your own without waiting for EA to take action.

Anthem Bricking PS4 Problems

Starting in March with an Anthem update we are hearing that playing Anthem on the PS4 is causing consoles to shut down unexpectedly and some users are reporting that Anthem is bricking their PS4, making the console completely unusable.

EA shared an Update on Twitter saying, “We’re aware of a crashing issue some of you have been reporting for . We’re investigating and ask that you share your crash data reports when prompted. If you have, we’ll be reaching out to gather info; if not, please reply to this thread on AHQ

In the thread users are reporting on the crash and any steps they took to get back into their PS4 again. One report says the PS4 shows ERROR (CE-36329-3) when the game crashes.

You can try to rebuild the PS4 database to fix your bricked PS4. We have a guide on how to do that. It takes just a few minutes to start, but could take an hour or longer depending on your PS4 hard drive or SSD size and how much you have on it.

Right now there is no official word from EA regarding console replacements, from PlayStation about Anthem refunds or from Bioware about a patch to fix this problem.

How to Fix Anthem Crashes

There are two major Anthem crash problems. The first happens when you start the game for the first time and try to go to the Forge. If this is happening to you, you can fix it easily. The second Anthem crash problem relates to the latest patch on the PS4 and PC, and you may need to stop playing Anthem until a fix is issues. This issue may also be on the Xbox One, but not to the same degree as the PS4.

Is Anthem crashing when you go to the Forge and you try to unlock your first Javelin? You aren’t alone, but you can fix this easily. Instead of going to straight to Forge, you should go to Freeplay and complete Prospero’s mission. Then go back to Fort Tarsis and talk to Prospero before you go to Forge.

Users report Anthem crashing on the PS4 with ERROR (CE-36329-3) and others report crashes on PS4. On Origin for PC GamesRadar reports that Anthem caused a writer’s PC to crash and it broke the power supply.

How to Fix Stuck Javelin in Anthem

A common issue that EA is aware of is that your Javelin can get stuck when you are out in the world. This happens when your Javelin encounters foliage, rocks or terrain and a glitch occurs.

If this happens to you, it’s easy to fix. Open your map and choose Respawn, which will free you.

How to Fix Anthem Crafting Problems

If you cannot craft in Anthem, this is a known issue. You can fix this by doing a mission for Prospero. This will unlock Crafting and allow you to use his store. here’s more on how to craft in Anthem.

How to Fix Anthem Shards Not Appearing

On PC if you are not seeing Shards in game or in Origin, you need to delete some files on your PC. EA says to delete these files.

  1. Close Origin and Anthem then delete these folders:
    C:\Users\(user)\AppData\Local\Origin
C:\Users\(user)\AppData\Roaming\Origin*You’ll need to show hidden files and folders to see those*
  2. Restart Origin and Anthem again and check.

If you still don’t see them, try restarting your PC and then opening Origin and Anthem again.

How to Fix Anthem EA Access Problems

Are you trying to download the Anthem EA Access early trial? If you don’t see the game in EA Access, you can refresh the EA Access Hub and then you should be able to see it. To do this, turn your Xbox on and Open EA Access.

  1. In the EA Access Hub hold LT, RT and Y to refresh.
  2. Go to Anthem
  3. View the game
  4. Select the three dots and choose Play Trial.

Now it should start downloading and installing so you can play the game.

How to Fix Anthem Download Problems

We’re seeing some users complain about Anthem download problems on PC, and there are also some issues on Xbox One and PS4. On PC, some users say they are getting stuck at 42%.

If this happens to you on PC, you may need to simply wait a while, which solved the issue for one player. Another user reports that deleting “all the dx and vcdredist files”, and then restarting origin fixed the problem.

On Xbox One or PS4, if your download is slow you can try pausing the download and then restarting it. This can often get a better connection and speed things up. Another thing to try is connecting your console to the Internet with a wired connection instead of wirelessly, even if you only do this for the download it should make things go faster.

If all else fails, restart your console or computer and your router and try it all again.

How to Fix Anthem Installation Problems

If you can’t install Anthem, one of the main reasons is that you don’t have enough storage space on your PC or console. If you don’t have enough space you will need to delete a game or attach an external hard drive or external SSD.

Keep in mind that sometimes a game needs a little space on your internal drive, even if you are installing it to an external drive. Here are the best Xbox One hard drives and best PS4 hard drives to add more space without buying a new console or deleting a game.

In cases where the Anthem installation is frozen on the Xbox One or PS4, you should try turning your console completely off and then unplugging it for a minute and trying again. This is an official fix for the PS4, and a full reboot has solved many installation problems on our Xbox One X.

Is the Anthem Server Down?

An Anthem problem is the error, “Anthem service is currently unavailable.” If you see it, Anthem isn’t down, it is just overloaded and you can get in if you keep trying.

EA Help recommends that you keep trying for now. If you try enough, you should be able to get in, and EA is working on a longer term fix. If you can’t get in, check otu EA Help and Anthem on Twitter for more details and for Anthem Server status updates.

How to Fix Anthem Connection Problems

If you can’t connect to Anthem you should check the Anthem Server status as well as the status of PSN and Xbox Live.

If all the servers are online, you can take some steps on your own to fix problems. First off see if you can connect with any other games. If you do, then check on Twitter to see if there is anything from EA Help or Anthem.

Is Anthem online?

Is Anthem online?

If you are having issues, then you should restart your modem and your console. This is a simple thin, but it can solve many issues. Another thing to do is try plugging into a wired connection. If you can’t use a wired connection, you may want to look at a better wireless router like the Netgear Nighthawk router or look at a whole home wifi system.

Here are the step you can take to fix connection problems on your console if you are still having issues.

If you still have problems after following all of those steps you may need to adjust your settings to fix NAT problems or you may need to adjust other settings on your Router. Here’s how to fix NAT issues on Xbox One that can limit online play or this guide that can help you fix PS4 NAT problems.

On PC you may need to open up ports to play. EA says to open,

  • UDP:
    • 3659
    • 21000 – 26000
  • TCP:
    • 443
    • 8080

If you’re disconnected you will not lose loot. Keep in mind that you join a different server every time you start a game. These will shut down regularly and when they do you will see a message saying, “Server shutting down in X hours.” That doesn’t mean all the servers are going offline for maintenance, just that the server you are playing on is going offline and restarting.

How to Fix Anthem Legion of Dawn Rewards Problems

If you are an Origin Access Premier member you should be able to collect your Legion of Dawn rewards now, but you need to take some steps to make this happen. Here’s what you need to do;

  1. Complete the tutorials.
  2. Talk to Prospero at his stall in Fort Tarsis.
  3. Complete his mission.
  4. Talk to him again.
  5. Open the Store.
  6. Claim your items in the Rewards tab.

If you still cannot get your rewards, you need to uninstall the Legion of Dawn Edition Upgrade and Anthem Pre-Order bonus DLC from your console and re-install them. You do not need to uninstall the full Anthem game. For more check out these guides for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

How to Fix Slow Anthem Loading Problems

EA is aware of slow Anthem loading on the PS4 and Xbox One. This is limited to the original and Slim PS4, Xbox One and Xbox One S. There is no mention of a fix for this, other than EA saying the issue is not present on the Xbox One X or PS4 Pro. If you love Anthem, you may want to plan on upgrading your console in the near future.

Best Xbox One X deals – $399 at Microsoft | $398 at Amazon | $399 at Best Buy

Best PS4 Pro deals – $399 at Amazon | $399 at Best Buy

There is no information on whether installing the game to an external SSD will help the speeds or not. This helps with loading on PUBG for the Xbox One.

I don’t know if this is unknown of whatever, but my anthem account just completely restarted the game for me. I had just unplugged it to fix a previous but only to find myself in the intro mission. Thinking we’ll maybe this is just another glitch and I’ll get ally legendary gear back when I’m done, i play through. But no. Full game restart. I’ve spent about $200 dollars and countless hours on this game. If they can’t or won’t return me to my previous level and gear, I’ll be taking legal action. This is unacceptable is any game, but ESPECIALLY and MMO.
