There are no shortage of online offers for free V-Bucks that claim to hack Fortnite or cheat the game to put more V-Bucks into your account. If you install one, there is a very good chance you will install malware on your computer.

You’ve probably seen at least one of these free V-Bucks websites out there promising to load your account up with all the V-Bucks you can imagine.

These websites are after one of two things. They want to hack your Fortnite account, or they want to trick you into signing up for offers that generate money for them. Either way, you aren’t going to get free V-Bucks. You may end up paying for an offer or paying to try to get your account back.

Epic Games specifically warns, “Visiting websites or clicking links claiming “free” Vbucks or in-game items are unsafe.” You should not share your account login with third-party sites.

It gets even worse. If you install a free V-Bucks hack or a Fortnite Battle Royale aimbot, you are likely installing malware on your computer. Rainway recently discovered tens of thousands of infected computers, which were infected by a Fortnite Battle Royale hack. This installed a man in the middle attack, compromising the computers and inserting ad code into web browsing sessions.

Long story short, these websites cannot do what they claim. There may be comments, even a running ticker saying “I just got 10,000 V-Bucks”, but it’s all a show designed to trick you.

How to Get Free V-Bucks

There are three ways you can get free V-Bucks in Fortnite Battle Royale and Fortnite.

The first is to buy bulk amounts of V-Bucks, which include bonus amounts of V-Bucks. These are not totally free, as you need to buy V-Bucks to get these free ones.

You can also use iTunes Gift Card deals to buy V-Bucks at a discount and essentially get free V-Bucks. The big catch here is that you cannot transfer V-Bucks from one platform to another. Buy iTunes gift cards for 15-20% off and then buy a bundle and you can end up with a lot of free V-Bucks.

What you need to know about the only legit way to get free V-Bucks in Fortnite Battle Royale.

If you by the Fortnite game, not the Battle Royale version, but the PVE version of Fortnite you can complete challenges to earn free V-Bucks. You can use these in Fortnite Battle Royale, but you have to play Fortnite to get them. In Fortnite Save the World, you can earn free V-Bucks for;

• Daily logins
• Daily quests
• Main quest events
• Side quests
• Timed missions
• Events
• and other limited time bonuses

You can expect 50 V-Bucks for daily logins and up to 600 V-Bucks for completing a Main questline area.

The best bet is to use Free the V-Bucks and this Google Spreadsheet to figure out the best ways to get free V-Bucks using Fortnite Save the World.

The catch is that Fortnite Save the World is $39.99 for the entry-level version of the game, so you need to pay and then grind. You could spend the $39.99 on V-Bucks directly and get some bonus V-Bucks while you are at it. Fortnite Save the World will be free at some point this year, but there is no specific date yet.

These free V-Bucks will transfer from Fortnite to Fortnite Battle Royale, but they will not transfer from console to PC or to Mac. You can use them to buy gear that will transfer as long as your Epic account is linked.
