You can take a new Snapchat 3D Selfie if you own the iPhone X or newer. This new option lets you combine Snapchat Lenses, filters and stickers with a 3D style photo that moves and shifts as people watching your snap move their phone.
While you need a newer iPhone to take a 3D selfie, anyone with Snapchat can view them.
This is similar to the 3D photos you’ve likely seen on Facebook, and like those options, these live inside the Snapchat app. While you can save photos taken with Snapchate lenses, we expect that you’ll lose the 3D effect if you save these.

How to Take a Snapchat 3D Selfie
The Snapchat 3D selfie is rolling out to users starting today. You need an iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro or iPhone 11 Pro Max. This will not work with the iPhone XR or on Android phones at this time.
The first thing you will need to do is update the Snapchat app. This update is rolling out gradually this week, so you might not be able to take a 3D Selfie yet, but you should by the end of the week.
After you update Snapchat, you can get started. Here’s how to use the Snapchat 3D Selfie feature on your iPhone;
- Open Snapchat and go to the Camera.
- Tap on the dropdown option in the upper right.
- Tap on 3D.
- Take a selfie in 3D mode.
- You can swipe for 3D Lenses and Filters.
The video below shows this in action and lets you see some of the Snapchat 3D selfie options you can take right now.
Expect to see more 3D Selfie Lenses added in the near future as Snapchat expands this feature. When you finish taking your 3D selfie, you can share like any other snap.
Camera+ 2 is an iPhone only app that helps you turn your selfies into amazing photos with the tap of a button. You can use Camera+ 2 to take a better-looking Selfie with the camera portion of the app that allows you to control many other features, or you can simply rely on it to edit your photos for an upgraded look.
There is a Clarity filter that will brighten up selfies that are too dark and a Portrait filter that smooths your skin slightly and adds light to the background of the photo for an impressive upgrade to any selfie.
Other tools allow you to fully edit your photos and make changes so that you end up with the best-looking selfie you can. You'll also find cropping options, frames and array of filters.
