Apple iPhone 11 pre-orders start this Friday. If you have a very specific model in mind, there are some things you can do to ensure you get the right color, storage size, and ship date.

iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max pre-orders kick off at 5:01AM Pacific on Friday and that means those of you in the United States will need to wake up early if you want to put in an order ASAP.

Waking up early for the start of pre-orders doesn’t guarantee you’ll get the model you want when you want it. The iPhone often sells out fairly quickly at Apple and other retailers with shipping dates pushed into late September and October. It could be an even bigger issue with a more reasonable start time for people on the East coast.

If you want your new iPhone to arrive on your doorstep next Friday, you’ll want to prepare before the clock strikes 5 AM this Friday.

iPhone 11 rumors haven’t pointed to any major delays, but you can expect shipping dates to increase on day one. This is particularly true for the popular 6.5-inch model.

If you’ve decided to pre-order, or even if you’re just thinking about it, there are some things you’ll want to do before the start of the pre-order period. After you pre-order, check how much your old iPhone is worth.

If you haven’t decided on a specific model or gathered all of the pertinent information ahead of time, you might not get the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, or iPhone 11 Pro Max model you want.

Favorite the iPhone 11 Model You Want

The iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max won't go on sale for a few days, but you can already go to Apple's website and favorite the model you want to pre-order.

If you're already decided on the model you want to order, you should go through the order process right now on Apple's website. Here's how to do that:

Open up Apple's iPhone 11 page in your browser or in the Apple Store app.
Login to the account you'll be using to pre-order your new iPhone.
Select the model you want to pre-order.
Select the Color, Storage and how you want to pay.
Click the little heart next to the "Select" button at the bottom if you're doing this via Apple's website. If you're doing it via the Apple Store app, tap the heart in the upper right.

This will store the iPhone 11 model you want in your Favorites and once pre-orders go live, you can just head to head to your Favorites and tap or click on the device you favorited.

From there, you'll quickly be able to buy the iPhone 11 model you want.
