iPhone 5 iOS 9 Update: 10 Things to Know After Two Weeks

You Can No Longer Downgrade to iOS 8

You Can No Longer Downgrade to iOS 8

PSA: You can still downgrade to iOS 9.0.1 but you can no longer downgrade to iOS 8 (iOS 8.4.1) or iOS 9.0. Apple's stopped signing off on those updates and you're no longer able to drop back down to them if you encounter issues. Apple closed those loop holes up yesterday.

The company typically closes the loophole up about a week or two after an update's release so you'll want to keep an eye on iOS 9.0.1

Jackross reply is inappropriate. It is an advertisement rather than a solution to iPad/iPhone problem we are having! I suggest that it is unhelpful and should be deleted by the moderator of this site

what i cannot understand is that Apple does bot find the reason for the vpn-problems which are making receiving emails from my company’s Exchange server impossible.

I have iPhone fives S version 9.0.2, my phone is freezing up constantly, I can’t type more than two or three words and it text without it freezing. It is freezing on my home screen on my lock screen. MyTouch function has become more difficult to use. My correct word voice is very sluggish and sounds drunk. Phone is lagging very badly, I’m even having problems loading this message. Have tried three times to submit hasn’t worked yet. I am very disappointed in Apple, I just wish I could take this back to the original settings. I would like an answer directly from Apple.

Since updating my iPhone 5C with 9.0.2, I have a ton of photos 493 (of which most were previously deleted) and 104 videos (which most were deleted) too. I think apple downloaded all photos from the Cloud onto my phone. Very frustrating as I have to now go in and individually delete most of them. The new 9.0.2 also added the following folders: Music, Wallet and Find Friends. They seem mostly useless with not much “value add”.

Since updating to 9.02 on my iPhone 5 my contacts show ALL email addresses I’ve ever used along with contacts. Even when I select contacts only from the group menu, it doesn’t save this setting when you close the window. Most annoying.

The iOS9.2 update has been disasterous for my beloved iPad mini as the Game Center presents a blank white page, response time is slow, apps freeze and it is difficult to remove an app. With that said I would like to know why this happened and what/ when is Apple going to do to fix this disasterous update that has left me with a level of frustration and a dislike for this iPad and rethinking the use of Apple products. Help…

have an I phone 5S and updated to 9.0.2. Now my phone is calling people without my knowledge and not even showing as an outgoing call. People are calling me back asking why I called and I have no answer.
Also my text message entry point looks like a Calculator with zeros and a decimal point. It doesn’t let me type anything. The Bluetooth in my truck started to ignore the phone and not recognize it until I restart my phone. Sometimes I do this to her three times a day. What in the hell is going on?

I have the IPhone 5 version 9.0.2, and noticed that after this update:

While using my regular Jabra headset (with play/pause feature on the microphone cable included) to playback an audiobook on Overdrive app, music from my Music library would come on automatically when I pressed the pause button, and my Up Next feature would fill up with the rest of the album, and I could not return to my Overdrive audiobook. Plus, my Overdrive app would stop at the end of each section or part without any prompting from me. (It used to be that, unless I paused it, the sections flowed from one end to the beginning of another.)

Fiddled with clearing my Up Next feature in my Music app . This did not fix anything.

Finally, I moved my Music app icon to the very final page of my phone, it is sitting on that page all by itself, and my headset is working with my iPhone properly now.

As for the battery life, I have started using the low power mode that came with this update and was pleasantly surprised with how well it has actually worked.

The only drawback from my perspective (slight though it may be, and not a “deal breaker”): the unit returns to “normal” power mode automatically after it senses that it has been charged enough (I believe this was created so the unit can refresh apps).

Wish I could keep it on “low” power mode… So, I’ve been re-setting it. (I can certainly choose the “normal” setting if I wanted to refresh my apps.) The low power mode actually helps me in my daily use.

Please note that my knowledge of the above items come from being an iPhone user only, don’t really know why moving the Music app worked for the first issue… But it did, so I hope it works for others.

    Good luck!

For me one if the worst parts is the email search function. It’s almost useless. Can’t go back to the search results and only searches people and subject, not message content. Terrible!

Every time I try to look at a link via FB or Trip advisor, for example, I get kicked back to my thumbnail page…so frustrating..totally regretting doing any 9.0 updates! Don’t do them!!!!

Since the upgrade I cannot retrieve my emails on either my iPhone5 or iPad.

Additionally, it’s not updating my Facebook feed.

    Thoroughly fed up with it.

Any idea how long it’ll be before we get a fix?

With iOS 9.02 I lost SAFARI and BOTH cameras! I just wasted another 15 min. reading a page and a half of little more than “9.02 is broke”. I’m moving on to a page with information.

Like many others, I am finding double, triple, or quadruple battery drainage, especially with Safari and email, and also legs and delays in responsiveness . The interesting thing is – the symptoms started about a week ago when I was still on iOS 7. I upgraded to iOS 9 in hopes of improving battery life and general responsiveness, but nothing doing, if anything it is worse. Many have posited that it is a worm constantly seeking other victims, which would make sense given that the massive battery drain only happens when working on the Internet. More interestingly, mail eats up more batteries then YouTube. Have tried all of the usual fixes, turning off all background refresh, location services, etc. A new insights or suggestions on this weirdness would be greatly appreciated.
