If you want the best possible support for your iPhone you might want to opt for the iPhone 7 over the iPhone 6s or an older model. 

If you're the kind of person that upgrades once every three years or so it makes sense to wait at this point even if you dont care about the latest upgrades. 

This year, Apple killed software support for the iPhone 4s. Next year, it could be the iPhone 5. And the iPhone 5s after that. 

Apple probably won’t detail this on stage during the iPhone 7 launch event but the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will get better software support than any iPhone currently on the market. They'll get at least three years of software support, probably more.
