LG G7 vs LG G5: Specs & Power

Both the LG G5 and the newer LG G6 were a little underpowered compared to the competition. That's not a concern with the LG G7, as it's one of the fastest phones around. For those wanting the hard numbers, here they are:

LG G7 Specs

  • 6.1-inch 3120 x 1440 Quad-HD Full-Vision LCD Display
  • 8-Core Snapdragon 845 Processor with 4GB of RAM (same as Galaxy S9)
  • 64GB storage with microSD expansion
  • Android 8.0 Oreo with LG UI and AI 2.0
  • 16-Megapixel f/1.6 main camera, 16 MP f/1.9 wide-angle lens
  • 8-Megapixel front selfie camera
  • Hi-Fi Quad DAC, Boombox Speaker, Google Assistant button, FM Radio
  • 3,000 mAh battery with fast and wireless charging
  • IP68 Water & dust resistant, USB Type-C
  • Platinum Gray, Black, Blue, and Rasberry Rose Gold color options

As you can see, there is a lot to like here. For one, both rear cameras are now the same sensor and 16-Megapixels, so you'll get great photos. You'll also enjoy a big screen, plenty of storage, and excellent sound. Way more storage than the LG G5, actually, and a much faster device overall.

LG G5 Specs

  • 5.3-inch 2560 x 1440 Quantum HD Display
  • Snapdragon 820 Processor with 4GB of RAM
  • 32GB of storage and microSD card support
  • Android 6.0 (now on Android Nougat) with LG UI
  • Dual Rear Camera Setup 16MP main and wide-angle or zoom sensor
  • 5MP Front Camera with OIS
  • Fingerprint Scanner, USB Type-C, Always-On Display
  • 2,800 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3
  • Metal Body (kinda), Modular Design
  • More

Looking over that you'll see a few things right away. The screen is bigger and better, the processor is faster, you have double the storage, and it runs the latest Android 8.0 Oreo. Then, the cameras are better on the front and back, and you get a bigger battery so your phone lasts longer.

The LG G5 is still a great device with a lot to like, but it's starting to show some age. If you aren't out of space already, upgrade to the LG G7 and enjoy a more modern experience.
