LG G7 vs Pixel 2 XL: Specs

When it comes to choosing a phone another important thing is specs. How powerful and future-proof a phone is. Last year the LG G6 arrived with an old and outdated processor, and less RAM, and instantly lost to the competition. That's not the case this year. In fact, the LG G7 ThinQ is a top-tier phone across the board.

LG G7 Specs

  • 6.1-inch 3120 x 1440 Quad-HD Full-Vision LCD Display
  • 8-Core Snapdragon 845 Processor with 4GB of RAM (same as Galaxy S9)
  • 64GB storage with microSD expansion
  • Android 8.0 Oreo with LG UI and AI 2.0
  • 16-Megapixel f/1.6 main camera, 16 MP f/1.9 wide-angle lens
  • 8-Megapixel front selfie camera
  • Hi-Fi Quad DAC, Boombox Speaker, Google Assistant button, FM Radio
  • 3,000 mAh battery with fast and wireless charging
  • IP68 Water & dust resistant, USB Type-C
  • Platinum Gray, Black, Blue, and Rasberry Rose Gold color options

Google's Pixel 2 XL is pretty powerful too, but it is running specs from 2017.

Pixel 2 XL Specs

  • 6-inch 2880 x 1440 Quad-HD OLED Display
  • Snapdragon 835 Processor with 4GB of RAM
  • 64/128GB storage options, no micro-SD slot
  • Android Oreo
  • 12.2 Megapixel Rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and OIS
  • 8MP front-facing camera
  • Dual Front-Facing Stereo Speakers
  • 3,520 mAh battery with Quick Charging
  • IP67 Dust & Water-Resistance
  • Google Assistant, Google Lens, more
  • USB Type-C port, fingerprint scanner on back
  • No 3.5mm headphone jack, no wireless charging

Right there at the end are a few of the important differences. The LG G7 has a faster processor, upgraded specs, two cameras, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and wireless charging. It also supports IP68 water resistance, not IP67 like the Pixel. That means it can go under 5ft of water for around 30 minutes vs Google's 3ft rating.

Don't get me wrong the Pixel 2 XL is a great phone. It's just that the G7 is a little newer, and has some better specs in certain areas. It's all personal preference. Stock Android vs LG software, etc.
