Apple CarPlay Gains Third Party Maps

Do you own a car that supports Apple CarPlay? If so the iOS 12 update adds a massive feature that you've been demanding for over a year. Third party navigation apps. 

This means you will be able to use Waze in Apple CarPlay or Google Maps in Apple CarPlay. 

After spending nearly 20 hours in a car on a road trip and using Android Auto so that I could use Waze, I'm glad to see this feature is coming to the iPhone with iOS 12. 

Now if only Apple would let us control Spotify by voice in the car like you can with Apple Music. 

You won't be able to do this right away, at least not with Google Maps. Google is testing a version of this privately, and hasn't yet made it available to the public.
