OnePlus 6 vs HTC U12+: Which One to Buy?

When it comes to choosing a new Android smartphone you have plenty of options in 2018. Two phones that should be near the top of your list are the OnePlus 6, and the new HTC U12+. If you’re not a Samsung fan, here’s how these two compare so you can choose your next phone.

Whether you don’t like the slow software on Samsung phones, prefer stock Android, or want the best camera experience possible, you’ll want to consider these two phones.

OnePlus is quickly becoming a household name thanks to high-end handsets for half the price of the competition. As an example, the new OnePlus 6 delivers a beautiful 6.3-inch screen and dual cameras for only $529. You’ll need to decide if the HTCU12+ has enough extra features to warrant the nearly $300 price increase.

A big part of your buying decision will be what you need and how much you can afford. If you want one of the best smartphone cameras on the market, the HTC U12+ just received one of the highest scores ever from independent sources. It’s an expensive phone though, and the OnePlus 6 camera is pretty capable too.

The HTC U12+ is probably the better phone, but the OnePlus 6 is the best value. It’s hands-down the best bang for your buck.

Both of these phones have huge screens, tons of power, plenty of storage, and a good camera. In fact, HTC’s new phone has four cameras total, for better portrait style photos.  Both of these phones have a few pros and cons, and our slideshow below will help you decide which ones are more important to you.

The biggest difference between these two phones is the size of the screen. Even though HTC named it the U12+ it's not all that "plus-sized". You'll get a nice 6-inch AMOLED display if you buy HTC's new phone. There's no smaller model either, they just added the + so people know it's big.

However, with the OnePlus 6 you'll get a bigger 6.28-inch 1080p HD AMOLED display. It's bigger and AMOLED, but a lower resolution than the U12. Both phones are using a 2:1 long and skinny aspect ratio, and a nearly bezel-free design. That said, the OnePlus 6 really has an edge-to-edge design, with the notch and all. HTC's U12+ has small bezels at the top and the bottom.

Basically, HTC chose to stick to a more traditional design and skip the "notch trend".

All said and done it what matters most is the size of the screen, and if you're ok with the notch. If you hate the iPhone-style notch get the HTC U12+. If you want the biggest screen at a great price, the OnePlus 6 is for you.
