3 Reasons to Buy the Destiny 2 Annual Pass & 2 Reasons Not To

Published

on

The Destiny 2 Forsaken Annual Pass is an add-on to the new Forsaken Expansion that adds in three new episodes of content over the next year. This in addition to what you get with Forsaken.

You can buy this as a bundle, or you can wait and buy it as a standalone purchase. While we know a lot about Forsaken, we’re still learning about the Destiny 2 Forsaken Annual Pass. This is a new option for Destiny 2, and while it is not built-into the Forsaken DLC, you do need Forsaken to buy the Annual Pass. You also need the first two expansions.

It’s basically an season pass for an expansion pass. Here’s what you get and our advice on if you should buy it now or wait.

What’s in the Destiny 2 Forsaken Annual Pass?

With the Destiny 2 Forsaken Annual Pass you get three DLC releases over the next year. This includes new activities, new content, and it opens up the ability to earn more weapons, armor and gear. The three episodes take place in bubbles, not on new planets. These include;

  • Black Armory – Winter 2018
  • Joker’s Wild – Spring 2019
  • Penumbra – Summer 2019

We’ve seen a lot of Black Armory leaks, but there is no official information yet. We expect to see more about Black Armory in the next week or two, with a release likely in late December.

During these releases you will get activities and content only available to Annual Pass owners. These include seasonal rewards and new Triumphs to complete. All of the content will come before August 31, 2019.

Is the Destiny 2 Forsaken Annual Pass Worth Buying?

We’ll help you decide if you should spend $30 more on the Forsaken edition with the annual pass, or if you should wait and see how everything comes together to buy the Annual Pass for $5 more than the bundle. A deal is a deal, but when you only save $5, it’s going to weigh differently for each player.

  • Buy The Destiny 2 Forsaken Annual Pass if You’ll Play Destiny Another Year
  • Buy as a Bundle to Save $5
  • Buy If You Love Forsaken
  • Wait for More Information About the Annual Pass
  • Wait for Destiny 2 Annual Pass Reviews

We’ll look at each of these reasons closer to help you decide if you should buy the Annual Pass today when you buy Forsaken, or if you should wait and see what is coming.

Buy The Destiny 2 Forsaken Annual Pass if You'll Play Destiny Another Year

Buy The Destiny 2 Forsaken Annual Pass if You'll Play Destiny Another Year

Are you a Destiny 2 player despite all the interest in Battle Royale games like PUBG, and the mass of new games coming in October? If Destiny 2 is still your main game, then you should invest the $30 and buy the Forsaken Annual Pass with the expansion.

We know the basics of what this brings to the game, and it's going to be essential to maintaining the Destiny 2 experience in Year 2. If you've already invested all of this time and money into Destiny 2 and plan to play it for another year despite Anthem coming out in the Spring, you should dive in and buy the Annual Pass.

You can buy the Annual Pass with Destiny 2 Forsaken, and it might even be worth getting the most expensive edition with extra character boosts to level up faster in Destiny 2 Year 2.

When Destiny 1 came out, I bought the game and Season Pass $100 (The Best $ Spent). When Destiny 2 came out, I bought the game and Season Pass $100 (The Worst $ Spent). Then a couple months later they offer up Forsaken to me for $40 (PISS ME OFF), Forsaken should have been part of my $100 dollar Season Pass on D2, (I purchased the $40 Expansion cost), a couple months later they want another $40 for Annual Pass? The HELL with BUNGIE! Their not getting another Dime from me! I wasted $40 for Forsaken, Gambit or (Dammit) SUCKS! Crucible SUCKS, I haven’t been able to find anyone who even wants to do a RAID on Destiny 2 or Forsaken, some start it, but wont finish it and the rest of us that’s never done a RAID is screwed! Why pay Bungie for their technical mistakes, why? Forsaken will be my last experience with Bungie Products, no more, I’ve had it up to here, I’m done!

I can whole heartedly see why long term players would be annoyed at this annual pass. I got Destiny 2 for free during the 2 week offer and bought Forsaken for £26, which had all of year 1 content. I doubt I’ll buy the annual pass based on past performance from the publisher. Extra guns, bubble environments and an attrocious method of looking for groups to play with, puts me off. I have to use either an app for my phone that doesn’t separate between EU, US or Asia servers. Or I have to use a discord group to find players, add these people as friends on Battlenet and then play. Considering past experiences with Warcraft, Bungie have done a terrible job bringing gamers together, even to message each other.
With Anthem just around the corner, I’ll be one of the players waiting to see what happens next.
