Samsung and its carrier partners are offering trade-in deals that'll help you take a significant chunk off the price of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, but the best Galaxy S9 deals, straight price cuts without a trade-in, won't emerge until later this year. 

The Samsung Galaxy S9 is an extremely expensive phone and there's no reason to put yourself in financial distress when the price of the Galaxy S9 will probably drop in a few months.

Retailers and carriers will start getting competitive about pricing once the initial buzz around the Galaxy S9 starts to settle down.
