One of the trends in wireless earbuds is to add in noise-canceling technology. This is a technology most often found in over the ear headphones that retail for $199 or higher. 

Noise-canceling headphones monitor the sound around you and use algorithms to block some of the sound. This typically does well for blocking out noises on an airplane or background chatter in a coffee shop. 

Amazon includes this in the Alexa Buds and it looks like Apple will add this feature to the new AirPods. This is one feature that can explain the higher potential price and the addition of Pro to the name.
