5 Reasons to Wait for the LG V50 & 3 Reasons Not to
This guide details everything we know so far about the LG V50 ThinQ and if it’s even worth waiting for. Buyers have several great phones to choose from right now and more are coming in the next few months. Whether that’s the Galaxy S10, LG V40 or even Google’s Pixel 3 XL. That said, LG fans will want to wait for the V50.
For starters, the Galaxy S10 launch is here, Apple iPhone 11 rumors are swirling already, a new OnePlus 7 is coming, there’s the Pixel 4, and we’re already seeing some big changes from LG ahead of the LG G8 release. Here’s what you need to know.
LG V50 Leaks, Rumors & News
We know LG is already hard at work on several new phones for 2019. From the upcoming LG G8 to the newly leaked LG V50 ThinQ. And while the V50 is still several months away, or more, we’re already seeing big rumors about four rear cameras and 5G support.
While LG and Sprint confirmed the V50 will be its first 5G phone in 2019, that’s not all we know so far. LG recently confirmed a front-facing ToF (Time of Flight) camera array, which will offer iPhone X-style face unlock technology and other advancements.

Then, the company announced upcoming phones will use the entire screen as one big speaker — called Sound on OLED Display. The LG G8 will be the company’s first phone with the ToF camera and sound on screen tech, but they’ll both make it to the LG V50 in the coming months.
Unfortunately, a recent leak suggests LG’s next V50 won’t stand a chance against the Galaxy S10 and will be very similar to the V40 last year. As in — missing most of the exciting technology we expected in 2019.
That said, LG recently put the “turnaround expert” from its highly successful OLED TV division in charge of mobile. Technically, he could really turn around the company, or at least start, with big changes coming in 2020.
Either way, there are some very tempting phones available right now, but in this guide we’ll take you through the best reasons to wait for LG’s V50 ThinQ or why maybe you shouldn’t.
