2018 Surface Pro 5: 4 Reasons to Wait & 4 Reasons Not To
Wait If You Need USB Type-C
Wait for the Surface Pro 5 if you want a USB Type-C or Thunderbolt 3 port for sure. The 2017 Surface Pro relies on the Surface Connect port, Mini DisplayPort and USB 3.0 Type-A. The Surface Book 2 and the Surface Go both support USB C, so it is something that is definitely coming to the Surface Pro 5 whenever it arrives. This will likely be in addition to the Surface Connect port, which is the standard way to charge the Surface and connect to the Surface Dock. On the Surface Book 2 the USB C port is included to connect to external displays and to transfer data, but it can also work as a universal charging port.
