How to Upload Photos and Videos From Your Camera Roll to Instagram Story

Instagram includes support for uploading to Instagram stories, even though they do push you to use the Instagram Story mode as you go through your day.
By default, you can only upload photos and videos from your camera roll to your Instagram Stories that are less than 24 hours old, but you can get around this if you need to. You can also only upload videos that are 10 seconds or shorter. If you upload a longer clip, it will trim it to fit the 10 second.
How to Upload Photos and Videos to Your Instagram Story
Here’s how you can upload your favorite photos and videos from your camera roll to your Instagram Story.
- Open Instagram and Tap on the Camera in the upper right or swipe to the left.
- Swipe up from the bottom to see your photos and videos from the last 24 hours.
- Edit the photo with the tools included in the Instagram Story tools.
- Tap on the + Your Story Button or tap on the Arrow and Choose Your Story.
That will upload the photo or the video to your Instagram Story instantly.
How to Upload Snapchat Story to Instagram Story
You can save a Snapchat Story to your iPhone or Android and then upload it using those options above. To download a Snapchat Story, you need to tap and hold on the download button in Snapchat.
Then tap on save to Camera Roll and Memories. This will allow you to upload to your Instagram Stories without re-creating the same thing over and over.
How to Upload Old Photos to Instagram Story
If you want to upload an older photo or video to an Instagram Story you will need to get a little tricky.
To upload an older video, the easiest thing to do is open it up in iMovie on iPhone or on a video editor on Android. From there you can add music or shorten it to 10 seconds or less. Then you need to export it as a new video. Once you have this, you can simply upload using the directions above.
To upload an older photo you can take a screenshot of the photo on your iPhone or Android and upload that using the directions above. This will degrade the quality some. You can also open up the photo on your computer, edit and then export as new.
Another option is to download a program to edit metadata of the photo on your computer, but this is a little more than many users want to get into.
