Dell Latitude 5290 2-in-1
Get the features you need with the Dell Latitude 5290 2-in-1. It’s highly configurable and has some Surface Pro features.
This 2017 Surface Pro alternative is battle ready. Its shell resists shock from drops and moisture. If something happens to the device, Dell’s certified partners can repair it at your home or office.
You pick the hardware you need at Dell.com. Models come with up to a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor and 16GB of RAM. A model with an Intel Core i3 processor and 4GB of RAM costs $899 before you add a fingerprint reader or camera upgrade. You can add a SmartCard Reader if you need one and upgrade the USB Type-C ports to Thunderbolt 3 ports for faster file transfers to external drives. LTE internet connectivity and wireless docking are also options.
You also choose your battery capacity while building your device. Express Charging gets you a half-charged battery in 39 minutes. That’s something no Surface Pro can do and it may prove even more valuable to you than getting the 13.5-hours of battery life the Surface Pro offers.
All models use the same 12.3-inch 1,920 x 1,280 display. It’s not as detailed as the Surface Pro’s display, but it’s just fine for HD video or working in productivity apps.
Each Latitude 5290 2-in-1 has a memory card reader, 1 USB 3.1 port and 2 USB 3.0 Type-C ports. A 2-megapixel front-facing camera and 8-megapixel rear-facing camera come standard. You can’t use that front-facing camera to unlock Windows 10 without an upgrade.
Amazon doesn’t sell the Dell Latitude 5290 2-in-1. Also, keep in mind that you don’t get a digital pen or a keyboard with this Surface Pro alternative, so remember to add those to your cart. The Latitude 2-in-1 Travel Keyboard costs $129.99.
The Dell Active Pen costs $59.99. This Windows 2-in-1 is only able to detect 2,048 different levels of pressure from this pen.
