Install It If You're Dealing with Marshmallow Problems

Install It If You're Dealing with Marshmallow Problems

If you're running into unfixable bugs/problems on your Galaxy Note 5, you might think about installing the Galaxy Note 5 Nougat update.

Many Galaxy Note 5 users continue to complain about Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow problems and issues with the current version of Android Nougat.

The Galaxy Note 5 Nougat update brings fixes for Marshmallow issues though the exact nature will depend on your model/carrier. And while you might see some fixes listed in your update's change log, there's a chance some won't be listed.

Downloading Android 7.0 Nougat could fix problems like severe battery battery life or underperforming first-party applications. The only way to know is to give Nougat a shot.

If you're already on Android Nougat and you're dealing with issues, there's a chance the latest Galaxy Note 5 Nougat build addresses your problem.

Remember, you can always flash another version of Android if Nougat fails to fix your problem. You'll need to use Odin in order to do so.

Actually, quite a useful article as my Note 5 just updated to Nougat and Samsung are pretty useless about advertising the new features.

Thank you for the useful information. I also have a note 5 and I’ve got the nougat update. I bought this phone coz of its hi-tech security features. In marshmallow I couldn’t turn off the GPS, mobile data, Wi-Fi, etc without unlocking my phone with my fingerprint. Now after this nougat update I can turn off all the options without unlocking my phone. If my phone is lost or stolen the person finding it can switch off all those features and I won’t be able to locate my phone. This is the only thing I didn’t like in the nougat update. If anybody can make it a point to inform the company about it that would be great. I don’t know how to contact them. Ty

    Thank you.

    13 April 2017
    Dear all Concerned
All the above is good except I have not yet setup the Samsung Pass on my Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
Before the Android 7.0 update my battery life used to stay for approximately 20 to 24 hours – however, after installing the Android 7.0 update – my battery drains in less than 10 hours sometime lesser after charging it to 100%. For example, last night my Note 5 was fully charged by 12 am (0:00) & disconnected from the power unit & cable – but this morning after 6 Hours of charging the battery life was at 76% (Previously at the same time in the morning the battery used to show 90% to 95%
Based on he above, can you provide assistance on what is to be done to rectify this Battery Power Drain problem.

Looking forward to your urgent reply

Hey, I should be able to help you all with your battery issues. I currently work for Sprint, and address this issue everyday, and I have Galaxy batteries down as a proud owner of a Note 5.

First, make sure that your Note 5 is not set to an “automatic network” setting. This can be found under your network settings. For example, my phone is Sprint, so therefore, my phone should be set to LTE/CDMA. On the Sprint Network, automatic network settings can be horrible on a battery as the device will always look for a connection, instead of defaulting to the correct connection.

Start with that first. Your phone will Restart. Next, simply make sure automatic brightness is turned off, and turn screen brightness down to half. (both options found by dragging top screen down) The Note 5 screen is a major power hog, so limit the power needed to power the screen. Plug the phone in. Charge to 100%. Go to your battery settings, and check to see what kind of life your battery should be getting. I betcha your numbers are looking much better now. Currently, my phone is at 65% charge. My battery is reading at 13h 41m. That is pretty darn good if you ask me.

The Note will resort back to default settings after a phone receives an update. This is important to remember because changing these settings can drastically improve the devices battery usage, and why would you want 10 hour total battery life like @Rainier Vas???

For me it takes nothing but a few minutes to apply these settings to customers phones on a daily basis. It has made a difference, I have done the research, trial and error…it’s easy.

      Try that out.

This update has affected my perfect video taking. Sounds like I have a blown speaker. But listening to other videos it’s fine. Sound is static only if I record a video

i’m experiencing several issues with receiving calls and the other person cannot hear me half the time if they are calling me. I usually have to call them back as a workaround (Note 5/Andriod 7)

I always liked the dark-background notifications in Marshmallow, and am sorely disappointed with the stark-white backgrounds in Nougat. Why force such a drastic visual change without providing a setting where I can change it back?

The font selection doesn’t work after the update. I clicked the Cool jazz and it shows the preview of how it would look. When I click to apply it absolutely nothing happens. The font is still the default setting.

Thank you for the update. Some problems faced with my update to share are:
    1. All emails set-up are wipe out. However it is quite simple set up than the previous time if you on yahoo or gmail, but got problem with company email as need to run to the IT colleague again
    2. The update disabled the auto-screen lock upon closing the flip case, and screen does not turn on upon flip open the case cover! These features are very handy and mind you, we pay more for the flip case. Please fix this problem ASAP.
If anyone has remedy, please share. Appreciate it.
    Many thanks

My note 5 updated yesterday and now that I have done that there is an error message saying the Samsung Keyboard has stopped. I can’t do anything when that keeps popping up every 2 seconds. I even did a factory reset and as soon as I go to try to put an emoji in a text it freaks out. Luckily I have another keyboard app or I can’t do anything. This is so frustrating! I hate when a new update comes out!
