Don't Wait for a Headphone Jack

Don't Wait for a Headphone Jack

If you really want a headphone jack with your next phone you should start looking elsewhere.

Companies have begun to remove the 3.5mm headphone jack to make room for other components. Devices like the iPhone XS are completely wireless.

The Galaxy S10 features a 3.5mm headphone jack, but Samsung will eliminate it on the Galaxy S20 series.

According to Bloomberg, Samsung had been toying with an S10 prototype without a headphone jack. The prototype didn't make it to market, but the company did remove the headphone jack from the Galaxy Note 10, a sign that changes would probably come to the Galaxy S series in 2020.

A rumor from Korean site ETNews states that the company will go with USB-C on the Galaxy S20. A recent hands-on with a Galaxy S20 unit all but confirms the lack of a headphone jack.

So while not officially confirmed, it looks like this is happening. If that's a deal-breaker for you, take a long look at the Galaxy S10 and other top Android devices.
