5 Cheap iPhones You Shouldn’t Buy in 2020

If you don't want a big screen, you might be looking at buying the iPhone 5s, Apple's aging 4-inch flagship from 2013.

The iPhone 5s is extremely affordable, you can buy it for less than $100 at some retailers, and it runs iOS 12 pretty well. We'd recommend it if there weren't a couple of things holding us back.

First, like the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the iPhone 5s won't get upgraded to iOS 13. That means the device will stay put on iOS 12.4.4 or whatever the final version of iOS 12 ends up being.

Again, that means you won't get any new features and you won't get any new bug fixes or security patches down the line. If the device's performance starts taking a hit, you'll be on your own. And that's something to consider because the iPhone 5s' hardware is really, really old.

If you want a small screen iPhone, and you want it cheap, do yourself a favor and check out the iPhone SE. It's the superior phone in every way.

It has much better cameras and its performance blows the iPhone 5s' out of the water. Best of all, you can find an unlocked 64GB iPhone SE for next to nothing.
