You might be looking at Samsung's Galaxy Tab S3, the company's flagship from back in 2017. The device is still in pretty good shape, but most people are better off going with a newer model.

Samsung's upgraded the Galaxy Tab S3 with Android Pie and its One UI. If you're unfamiliar, Android 9.0 and the new user interface bring some major upgrades to the company's tablet line.

Unfortunately, unlike Apple, Samsung typically keeps its tablets upgraded with major Android versions for two years before kicking them to the curb. In other words, don't expect the Galaxy Tab S3 to get Samsung's version of Android 10

If you want to get Android 10 on a Galaxy Tab S3, you'll probably have to do it manually and a lot of you might not have the time or patience to do that.

Samsung and its carrier partners are still pushing out updates to the Galaxy Tab S3, but the device is currently listed under "Current Models for Other Regular Security Updates" which means it'll get security patches a few times a year rather than quarterly or monthly.

At some point, Samsung will remove it from this list at which point you'll be on your own.

Newer Galaxy Tab models won't have these issues. The Galaxy Tab S6Galaxy Tab S4 and Galaxy Tab S5e will get Android 10 and also have a chance to get Android R, making them the ideal choice for those of you looking to keep your next tablet for awhile.

The Galaxy Tab S6 is expensive, but the Galaxy Tab S5e is perfect for those looking to buy something cheap. Which is probably why you've got the Galaxy Tab S3 on your radar in the first place.
