Apple announced the 2017 Mac Pro at a private event where the company also confirmed a major update for the 2018 Mac Pro. The 2017 Mac Pro isn't actually a new model. Apple upgrades the specs slightly, dropping the high-end model down to $2,999 and adding a faster top of the line model. Tim Cook told employees that there are "great desktops" coming from Apple in late 2016, and in early 2017 the Apple CEO told shareholders that Apple is committed to professionals.
