While we’re still waiting for the February 25th Galaxy S9 launch event, information continues to trickle in. We recently received our first photos of the neat new Galax S9 Dex Pad charger, along with a slew of new cases. This early buyers guide will give you a good idea of what to expect in terms of official Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 accessories.

Leaked Galaxy S9 Cases

For those wondering, the new Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will get announced on February 25th. Everything we’re hearing so far suggests two phones that are nearly identical to the Galaxy S8 and S8+ from 2017, but with meaningful changes throughout. Including better performance, more RAM, and a redesigned fingerprint scanner in an easier to reach location.

Of course, the biggest change is the fingerprint scanner and the two cameras on the back of the bigger Galaxy S9+. Yes, only Samsung’s bigger phone will have dual cameras. While the smaller 5.8-inch Galaxy S9 will have a new variable aperture 12 DualPixel camera. Here’s everything we know so far about the Galaxy S9.

For years, Samsung has launched a portfolio of official accessories alongside each major smartphone release. They typically focus on cases, but that’s not all they have to offer. The biggest collection so far is the official Galaxy Note 8 accessories lineup. Offering durable military-grade cases, an LED View case, ClearView, Silicone, Protective Standing Cover, and Alcantara cases. Some have kickstands, others have a premium fabric material finish.

These cases will all be available for the Galaxy S9 and S9+, along with two all-new models. Those being a lightweight sports Hyperknit case, and the ClearView Standing cover. Additionally, Samsung has a few new accessories on the way. Including a redesigned wireless charger with multiple charging coils, fabric cases, and the new Dex Pad.

In 2017, Samsung debuted a new Alcantara fabric case for the Galaxy S8, and the ClearView Standing cover for the Galaxy Note 8. Two of its most popular Galaxy accessories. We’re expecting the Alcantara to return in multiple colors, and the ClearView will make a comeback too. The ClearView case completely covers the Galaxy S9 front and back, is clear so you don’t cover up the premium design, and folds backward and doubles as a kickstand. Additionally, the clear front allows information like notifications to shine through on the always-on display.

We’re expecting to see a lot of typical accessories like an HDMI to USB Type-C adapter, spare chargers, or extra cables, but it’s the cases and wireless chargers that piqued our interest.

If you’re interested in the Galaxy S9 or the S9+ your best bet is an official case or accessory from Samsung themselves. And while we might see a few surprises come February 25th, these are the Galaxy S9 accessories we’re expecting. We’ll go over all the details in our slideshow below, then offer suggested pricing based on previous years. This list will get updated continuously as new information arrives.

Samsung Dex Pad

Samsung Dex Pad

First up, is the exciting new Samsung Dex Pad. Dex stands for Desktop Expansion and debuted last year as a way to turn the Galaxy S8 into a powerful desktop PC-type experience.

For 2018, Samsung will reportedly release an all-new Dex Pad with some noteworthy new features. This "dock" is backward compatible with the Galaxy S8 and turns Samsung's Galaxy devices into the brains for a powerful computer. As you can see, the Pad has two USB ports for a keyboard or mouse, HDMI-out for the monitor, and a USB Type-C port for power.

Slide your phone into the "Dex Pad" and the lay-flat design allows the screen to double as a keyboard. And more importantly, a touchpad. Essentially erasing the need for a keyboard or mouse.

As you can see, Samsung thought of everything. There's a nice rubber pad to keep the phone safe, a built-in fan to dissipate heat, and your Galaxy S8 or S9 charges while it's in the dock.

With this implementation, your Galaxy S9 and the Dex Pad is all you need. Then, simply hook it up via HDMI to an external display or monitor for a full computer experience. Expect the Dex Pad to retail for around $149, give or take a few.
