Don't Set Out With a Full Inventory

Don't set out into the wasteland with a full inventory. If you do, you're almost certainly going to become over encumbered by the amount of loot and junk that you pick up in the area that you're exploring. And traveling back and forth to alleviate this takes up precious time.

Get in the habit of unloading your inventory before you go out exploring or questing. Sell your stuff or pick a easy-to-remember workbench to store your items. That way, you'll have a harder time reaching your threshold.

If you find that you're constantly being weighted down by your loot, there are a few ways to avoid this common headache:

  • Take a companion with you to hold onto the extra. They can store a ton of stuff in their inventory if you get into trouble.
  • Put points into Strong Back in the Strength tree
  • Add the "Pocketed" modification to items during crafting
  • Use Buffout or Bufftats
