This collection of Forza Horizon 3 problems and fixes will help you get back to playing and collecting your Forzathon rewards. Most of the Forza Horizon 3 fixes only take a few minutes, and you can do them yourself without trying to contact Microsoft or Turn 10.
Despite multiple Forza Horizon 3 updates over the last several months, there are still game-breaking problems that can cause you to lose progress, make you miss out on Forzathon rewards and even prevent you from installing the game on a new Xbox One S.
How to Fix Forza Horizon 3 Crashes
Since the June Forza Horizon 3 update, we’ve been seeing an increase in Forza Horizon 3 crashes. These happen most often when switching from driving to a Barn Find or to a Festival expansion.
If you experience these, there is something you can do to limit the frequency. Instead of leaving the game running in the background for extended periods, quit the game and then come back in or even completely restart your Xbox One more frequently. Now that we quit Forza Horizon 3 more regularly there are fewer crashes. To quit the game press the menu button on Forza Horizon 3 on your Xbox dashboard and choose quit. Start the game up and enjoy.
Although nothing is out yet, you should install the next update when it comes out. We hope it will fix some of these crashes.
How to Fix Forzathon Rewards Problems
A very common problem is missing Forzathon rewards. You complete the challenge and then bam, nothing happens. There is no pop up with the achievement unlocked notice and the prizes are missing. We wasted an hour before we figured out that there was a problem. You don’t have to.
One reason this happens is if you lose your Xbox Live connection. You can reconnect in the Xbox One settings and then complete your challenges and they should trigger. If that doesn’t work, you may need to reset your Xbox One.
To do that, hold down the power button until it turns off. Turn the Xbox One back on and complete your challenges. Unfortunately, you need to re-do all the challenges.
How to Fix Can’t Install Forza Horizon 3 Problems
If you cannot install Forza Horizon 3 on your Xbox One, you may need to clear your cache and local game saves. Another option is to go offline to install the game. This lets you install Horizon 3 and then install the updates later. You can also try restarting the Xbox One, by holding power until it turns off. If your download is slow, try plugging in an ethernet cable to download the game.

How to Fix Forza Horizon 3 DLC Problems
If you bought the Forza Horizon 3 Hotwheels DLC or Blizzard Mountain DLC, you may run into problems installing them. This isn’t as big of an issue after the initial release, but if you do run into the issue you should hold down the Xbox One power button until it turns off. Unplug it from power for a minute and then plug it in and restart the console. This should fix the problem and get you back to playing. You will need to restart the DLC download and installation.
How to Fix Forza Horizon 3 Online Problems
When the game first came out, you had to disable crossplay to get your Forza Horizon 3 Xbox One version online, but you shouldn’t need to do this anymore. You may still have issues getting online in Horizon 3.
You should check your home Internet connection first. Make sure you can use a phone or computer to get online on your WiFi. If that works, check the settings on your Xbox One. Go to Settings -> Network and then use the Network tests to see if you are connected to the Internet and Xbox Live. You may need to restart your Xbox One or your router to fix this issue.
