Galaxy S9+ vs Galaxy Note 8: Specs

Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 is one of the biggest, best, and fastest phones on the market today. However, the Galaxy S9+ matches it in almost every category and beats it in a few others. Make sure if you're choosing one or the other it's the Note 8 or S9+, and not the smaller S9.

Here are a few important details for potential buyers.

Galaxy Note 8 Specs

  • 6.3-inch 2960 x 1440 Quad-HD AMOLED Curved Display
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or Samsung Exynos Processor
  • 64GB of internal storage (Micro-SD slot included) and 6GB RAM
  • Android 7.0 Nougat with Samsung TouchWiz (8.0 coming soon)
  • Dual 12 Megapixel Rear Cameras - OIS, phase detection auto-focus, f/1.7 aperture, more
  • 8 megapixel front camera with auto-focus, f/1.7 aperture
  • Fingerprint & Iris Scanner, facial unlocking
  • IP68 dust & water resistance
  • 3,300 mAh battery with Fast & Wireless Charging
  • Always-On Display, S-Pen stylus
  • Samsung Pay, Bixby Virtual Assistant, USB Type-C, 3.5mm headphone jack, more

As you can see, the Note 8 is a very powerful phone with a lot to offer. If there's one potential downside, it's the small 3,300 mAh battery inside. That's smaller than the Galaxy S8+ from 2017.

Galaxy S9+ Specs

  • 6.2-inch 2960 x 1440 Quad-HD AMOLED Curved Display
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 or Samsung Exynos Processor (vary by region)
  • 64GB of internal storage (Micro-SD slot included) and 6GB RAM
  • Android 8.0 Oreo with Samsung Experience UI
  • Dual 12 Megapixel Rear Cameras - OIS, phase detection auto-focus, 960FPS slo-mo, variable f/1.5-2.4 aperture camera, more
  • 8 megapixel front camera with autofocus, f/1.7 aperture
  • Fingerprint Scanner, Face & Iris Intelligent scan, more
  • IP68 dust & water resistance
  • 3,500 mAh battery with Fast & Wireless Charging
  • Always-On Display
  • Samsung Pay, Bixby Virtual Assistant, USB Type-C, 3.5mm headphone jack, more

As you can see, the new Galaxy S9+ is a perfect blend of upgrades, the Galaxy S8+, and the newer Galaxy Note 8 rolled into one.

Combining it all into a phone that has a little of everything. One important factor here is the Galaxy S9+ doesn't have an S-Pen stylus. However, that gives Samsung more room to add a bigger battery, while keeping the phone sleek.

These phones are almost so similar that the choice comes down to battery life or the S-Pen stylus. Which is more important to you?
