How to Pre-load the Destiny 2 Beta

Published

on

Pre-load the Destiny 2 Beta the moment you can. It’s the only way you will get as much time to test the upcoming third-person shooter as possible.

And you’ll want plenty of time to test Destiny 2. This beta is your only chance to try Destiny 2’s Crucible multiplayer experience before it launches. Expect access to one mission from the game’s campaign. Bungie and Activision will unlock a new social area, called The Farm, for just one hour during the testing period. You won’t get access to these features again until the final game launches on September 6th.

Downloading the files you need early will save you hours during the game’s narrow testing window. The Destiny 2 Beta begins with Early Access for PS4 users on July 18th. Xbox One owners with a pre-order can’t play until July 19th, and the Open Beta doesn’t start until July 21st. It could take hours to download the Destiny 2 Beta once each testing period kicks off. The Destiny 2 Beta ends for everyone on July 23rd.

Destiny 2 Beta pre-loads are available to users that have pre-ordered a copy of the game already. Here’s how to get the files you need now.

Claiming Your Key

You may need to claim a beta code from Destiny 2’s website before you can pre-load the game to your console. Anyone that pre-ordered a physical copy of the game needs an unlock key. Users that pre-ordered the game through the Xbox Store and the PlayStation Store get access to the beta without a key.

If you pre-ordered a physical copy of the game, find the receipt the cashier gave you. You need the 9-digit code at the bottom of that receipt to unlock your beta code.

Go to Destiny 2’s website and click on the Redeem Beta Code button.

Click the Sign In button if you already have an Xbox Live or PlayStation Network account. If you don’t have an account, select Join Up.

Select the online account for the platform you want to play on.

Enter the 9-digit code at the bottom of your receipt in the window.

Follow the on-screen prompts to unlock your download code for PS4 or Xbox One. You need to select a platform to play on. Be sure to only select the console that you have because codes can only be used once.

If you’ve done all this successfully, you should have a final Destiny 2 Beta key. Don’t close the window yet. You need to enter this key into your console’s digital store to download the files.
