Destiny 2 Beta pre-loads are available to users that have pre-ordered a copy of the game already. Here’s how to get the files you need now.

Claiming Your Key

You may need to claim a beta code from Destiny 2’s website before you can pre-load the game to your console. Anyone that pre-ordered a physical copy of the game needs an unlock key. Users that pre-ordered the game through the Xbox Store and the PlayStation Store get access to the beta without a key.

If you pre-ordered a physical copy of the game, find the receipt the cashier gave you. You need the 9-digit code at the bottom of that receipt to unlock your beta code.

Go to Destiny 2’s website and click on the Redeem Beta Code button.

Click the Sign In button if you already have an Xbox Live or PlayStation Network account. If you don’t have an account, select Join Up.

Select the online account for the platform you want to play on.

Enter the 9-digit code at the bottom of your receipt in the window.

Follow the on-screen prompts to unlock your download code for PS4 or Xbox One. You need to select a platform to play on. Be sure to only select the console that you have because codes can only be used once.

If you’ve done all this successfully, you should have a final Destiny 2 Beta key. Don’t close the window yet. You need to enter this key into your console’s digital store to download the files.

How to Pre-load Destiny 2 Beta on PS4

PS4 owners with a pre-order can pre-load the Destiny 2 Beta on their console now. That’s because the Destiny 2 Early Access Beta begins on July 18th at 10 AM Pacific Time for PS4.

Turn on your PS4 and sign in. Go to the PlayStation Store and select Redeem Codes. Enter the beta code the Destiny 2 Beta website gave you. Select Continue. Again, you don’t need a code if you purchased a digital copy of the game. You should search the PlayStation Store for the Destiny 2 Beta and download the files you need instead.

You must have 30GB of storage space and a high-speed internet connection to get the game installed and running on your PS4 console. A PlayStation Plus subscription is required to enjoy multiplayer in the Destiny 2 Beta.

How to Pre-load Destiny 2 Beta on Xbox One

The Destiny 2 Beta doesn’t start for Xbox One owners with a pre-order until July 19th at 10 AM Pacific Time. Gamers with a pre-order can also download the files they need on Microsoft’s console now.

Redeem your code through the Microsoft Account site on your PC. If you’re not able to get to a PC, open the Store app on your console and select the Redeem Code option below the advertisements at the top of the store. Your download should begin once you redeem your beta code.

Anyone that pre-ordered the game digitally on Xbox One should click the Get It Now button here. Make sure that you’re logged in with the Microsoft Account you pre-ordered the game with.

The Xbox One Destiny 2 Beta requires 13GB of storage. An Xbox Live Gold subscription isn’t required to play the beta’s story mission. You will need one to enjoy multiplayer.

Pre-Load Destiny 2 for Open Beta

Only users that purchased a copy of the game can pre-load the Destiny 2 Beta now. That’s because the game’s Open Beta doesn’t start until July 21st at 10 AM. Bungie hasn’t said when users that want to try the game’s Open Beta can pre-load.
