Beware of iOS 11 Emoji Ripoffs

Beware of iOS 11 Emoji Ripoffs

They aren't available in the iOS 11 beta but Apple's planning to release new emojis to iOS 11 users later on this year.

Apple hasn’t confirmed a specific date but these new emoji characters, which include a sandwich and a vampire, probably won't make it into the first version of iOS 11. They're more likely to arrive inside another version of iOS 11 before the end of the year.

Last year, Apple used its iOS 10.2 update to deliver 70+ new emoji characters to the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

Every time an iOS update is set to bring new emoji characters to the iPhone we see a bunch of ripoff apps flood the App Store.

We've pointed out in the past but here's a reminder: These apps cost real money (iOS 11 and its emojis will be free) and they typically bring problems along with them.

We haven't encountered iOS 11-related apps on the App Store just yet but we could see a few sprout up in and around the iOS 11 release date.

Make sure you avoid them. There's no reason to pay if you can get them for free later this year.
