iPhone 5s: 2 Reasons to Buy & 4 Reasons Not To (2017)

iPhone SE is a Much Better Choice

So those are a couple of reasons why you might want to make the iPhone 5s your next device. Here are some reasons to think about waiting or buying something else.

If you want to stick with the iPhone and a 4-inch display you're going to be much better off with the iPhone SE, Apple's 4-incher from March of 2016. 

The iPhone 5s and iPhone SE share a 4-inch screen but these are two completely different devices. Starting with the internals, the iPhone SE features better cameras, a faster processor, and more RAM. It's better equipped for life in 2017. It's also better equipped for the future. 

The iPhone 5s will get the bump up to iOS 11 but it could get stuck there. Apple typically keeps devices updated for four years before software support ends. 

So, if you plan on keeping your phone longer than September, 2018, you should seriously look into buying the iPhone SE. 

It's a little over a year old which means it should get several more years of software support including whatever iOS 12 update Apple cooks up next year.
