Apple's watchOS 4 update delivers massive upgrades to workouts and to keeping you active and motivating you. You will now see workouts that match the way you train or workout. You can get going faster with new Quick Start options that jump right into an activity so you don't waste any time. 

You can also opt for high intensity interval training which will use your heart rate and motion monitoring to track your calorie burn during even the toughest interval workouts you can throw at it. 

There is even better support for swimming workouts with an updated pool Swim workout that can automatically track sets, rests and pace. You can also see distance for each stroke type. 

Select gym equipment will sync to the Apple watch by tapping it on the equipment. This includes TechnoGym, Matrix, Life Fitness, Cybex, Star Trac StairMaster and Schwinn. 

You can quickly switch between workout types to better train for a triathlon or an Ironman  competition. When you are in a workout the Apple Watch automatically sets Do Not Disturb, so a call or text doesn't interrupt your flow. There's also a new auto pause while running so you don't need to do anything if you stop for traffic or to talk. 

You'll also get new notifications for special events and reminders to close your activity rings as part of watchOS 4. The alerts can include daily coaching, special challenges and more.
