So those are a few reasons to consider pre-ordering the iPad Air 3. Here are a few reasons to skip a pre-order for now. 

The iPad Air 3 looks like a solid replacement for the iPad Air 2, but we won't know for sure until we, and others, have spent some quality time with it. 

We expect the first iPad Air 3 reviews to arrive sometime next week in and around the device's release date so a lot of you will want to wait for those before committing to the new device. 

Those reviews will likely be based on a few days of use rather than a few weeks or months. Some of you might want to wait for long-term feedback to emerge before committing $500 or more to a new iPad.

The iPad Air 3 might get good reviews, but there's a chance it's too big or too expensive for you and your needs. 

Some of you might be better off going with the cheaper iPad mini 5, the 9.7-inch iPad from last year, or a cheap Android tablet.

In addition to waiting for reviews, you might want to go hands-on with the iPad Air 3 and its competitors before buying.
