What's New in the August Android 7.1.2 Build

Google's latest build doesn't appear to have any new features on board. Instead, the August Android Nougat update is a small security upgrade.

If you're curious about the update's contents, take a look at Google's security bulletin. It'll run down all of the patches on board.

In case you've forgotten, the original Nexus 5X Android 7.1.2 update was more than just a collection of bug fixes

The update delivered some new features including a brand new option under Settings -> Moves. There you'll find a new Swipe for notifications toggle.

If you toggle the function on, you'll be able to swipe down on the device's fingerprint sensor to drop down the notifications. It's pretty handy as it allows you to check your notifications without removing your index from the back of the phone.

The original Android 7.1.2 update also added some battery usage alerts that can be found in the Battery section of your device's settings. These alerts will show you which apps are misbehaving.
