What's New in Android 7.1.2

Google's July Android 7.1.2 build is a small security update. To get a detailed look at the changes, take a look at Google's security bulletin

If you're just now planning to make the jump from Android 7.1.1 (or something older) to Android 7.1.2 Nougat, you should know that Android 7.1.2 is more than just a collection of bug fixes

One of them is a brand new option under Settings -> Moves. There you'll find a new Swipe for notifications toggle. It's in the screenshot right here.

If you toggle the function on, you'll be able to swipe down on the device's fingerprint sensor to drop down the notifications. It's pretty handy as it allows you to check your notifications without removing your index from the back of the phone.

Android 7.1.2 also adds some battery usage alerts that can be found in the Battery section of your device's settings. These alerts will show you which apps are misbehaving.

It'll be empty when you first install it but the list will start to populate if and when apps start getting power hungry.
