What is the Baseball Boy App?
The Baseball Boy app is a home run derby style app for iPhone. It’s a cartoon app where you are stationary. You tap to swing a bat at an incoming pitch and try to hit the baseball further and further.
You can buy upgrades using the money you earn from hitting the ball. This allows you to upgrade your strength, the ball speed, ball bounciness and offline earnings. The Offline earnings increases the money you make when you are not playing the game. The other attributes help you hit the ball farther and help it bounce more after it hits the ground, which in turn earns you more cash.
There is no Baseball Boy app for Android. While you may find one in the app store, it is not the same app and it is not the same type of game. The developer does make games for both iPhone and Android, so there is a chance it will come to Android at some point.
How to Play Baseball Boy?
Playing Baseball Boy is simple. You tap the screen to swing the bat. The only timing you need to worry about is on the arrow that moves across the screen. You don’t need to time up with the pitch after you tap, and you cannot strike out.
Once you hit the ball you can sit back and wait to see where the ball ends up. The farther you hit the ball, the more cash you earn. After the ball stops you can collect the payout, or watch a 30 second ad to double the payout.
Tap on the four attributes at the bottom of the screen to upgrade using your cash. Eventually you will earn some free upgrades for watching ads.
If you hit the ball far enough you will unlock new bats that you can choose before you swing. While the bats appear to be a cosmetic upgrade only, it does appear that they offer a slight boost on a perfect strike, compared to the starter bat and earlier bats.
Is the Baseball Boy App Safe for Kids?
The Baseball Boy app is safe for kids to play, but we came across an ad for a Slot machine game that showed Playboy Bunnies as one of the games and an ad for a game where you discovered a boyfriend cheating on you with an option to join. We saw this ad twice in 15 minutes of gameplay. It’s a brief ad, but the busty photos on screen may be too mature for some parent’s preferences.
There are a lot of ads in this game. You will see an ad that takes the entire screen over and that you can’t skip for 5 to 6 seconds every few turns. If the player chooses to double the earnings there will be a 30 second ad after every at bat. The game is rated 12+ for the following reasons;
- Infrequent/Mild Simulated Gambling
- Infrequent/Mild Realistic Violence
- Infrequent/Mild Alcohol, Tobacco, or Drug Use or References
- Infrequent/Mild Medical/Treatment Information
- Infrequent/Mild Mature/Suggestive Themes
- Infrequent/Mild Horror/Fear Themes
- Infrequent/Mild Sexual Content and Nudity
- Infrequent/Mild Cartoon or Fantasy Violence
It seems that these must be due to the ads show, as these themes are not present in the gameplay.
Most of the ads are harmless. Other than the slot machine ad we saw, most ads are for cartoonish games. You can unlock an ad free version of the game through in-app purchases. Here’s more on how to set up parental controls on iPhone or Android.
Baseball Boy In-App Purchases
The only Baseball Boy in-app purchases are to unlock the premium version which removes the ads. This means you won’t see ads on the screen while playing or in between turns.
Ads will likely still be present if you decide to double your earnings after a turn. This purchase is $2.99 on the iPhone and you can restore purchases.
Baseball Boy App Tips & Tricks
Here’s how to hit the ball farther, unlock more bats and even play without seeing ads when you don’t buy the premium version. These are the Baseball Boy tips you need to get ahead.
- Practice Your Timing – Hold your phone the same way, and use the same finger to tap the screen each time. This will help you learn when to tap for a perfect strike. This always goes farther and comes with less obstacles to hit.
- Tap to Bounce – Tap the screen right as your ball is about to hit to bounce the ball farther. You can do this 2-3 times per swing so make them count.
- Use the Best Bat – Always use the newest bat you own, it will help you get a little boost on a perfect strike.
If you put your iPhone into Airplane mode you will be able to play without seeing ads. This works even if you don’t have the premium version of the game. Once catch is that you will no longer get free upgrade offers and you can’t double your earnings on a great hit.

Baseball Boy is a great time waster game because it only takes a few seconds to play one turn, so you can use it e en when you only have a minute or two to wait in line. This is a timing game. You tap to swing the bat when it is lined up in the center of the arc to get a perfect hit. Each hit earns you points that you can spend towards strength, speed, bounciness and offline earnings. I love that I can keep coming back to this game when I have a few minutes to kill and after a few turns I can increase my stats and go a little further the next time. There's a little strategy to it, but for the most part it's a great little distracting game. | |||||||||||||||

Each bat also multiplied the winnings by a bit. For example the first bat is 1x. For example, if you hit 1000m you will earn $1000. The next bat will give you a little more. And so on. So make sure to keep grabbing new bats!
