9 Common Madden 20 Problems & How to Fix Them
This is how to fix Madden 20 problems on Xbox One, PS4 or PC so that you can start playing Madden 20 without waiting for EA to take action.
The Madden 20 release was smoother than some previous launches, but there are some errors and problems. Thankfully the MUT errors are less frequent, but whether you are playing every night or just getting into the game for the first time this month, you may have issues.
In most cases, you can take action on your console or PC to fix a Madden 20 problem, but some times you will need to reach out to EA Help on Twitter or wait for a patch or server issues to resolve.
Here’s a look at the current Madden 20 problems and how you can fix them on your own.

How to Fix Madden 20 EA Access Problems
If you have EA Access or Origin Access, you can play Madden 20 free for 10 hours. This trial allows you to test the game out and see if you like it. This isn’t just for pre-release access, it is available all the time.
Two main issues are still hitting some users; trial hours being up when they shouldn’t and not being able to download the game.
If youre trial hours are up and you didn’t use them, you can reach out to EA Access support for help, but they may not trust that you didn’t play the game. It is worth a shot, but don’t expect much.
If you cannot see the Madden 20 trial in the store, you may need to open the EA Access Hub, where there is a trial section that you can start the download from. If you don’t see it there, try restarting your console.

If you can’t download Madden 20 or your download is very slow, you will need to check your Internet connection.
If you can use your Internet for other activities, you may need to restart your console or PC. I’ve found that a full power off, disconnecting my external drive and plugging it back in can help with download issues.
To fix slow Madden 20 downloads, you can try to pause the download for a few seconds and restart. This works best on PS4, but it can help on the Xbox One.
On PS4 go to downloads, press X to pause and then again to restart. On Xbox One, go to Games & Apps, choose the Queue and then on Madden 19 press the three lines button on your controller and choose pause installation. After a few seconds, resume the download.

When you can’t install Madden 20, you need to try a few things to fix the problem.
The first thing to do is to restart your console or PC. This is simple and will fix most installation problems, even a dirty disk error.
Another issue is not having enough room to install Madden 20 and any updates. To fix this, you may need to delete an old game.
Finally, you can try clearing the system cache to solve Madden 20 installation problems. If you clear the local saved games on Xbox One, you will lose progress unless you have them synced to the cloud.
On the Xbox One: Settings -> All Settings -> System -> Storage -> Clear local saved games. Once this is done, go to Settings -> All Settings -> Network -> Network Settings -> Go offline. Now restart your Xbox One by holding the power button for 10 seconds and try installing the game while you are offline. When finished, connect to the Internet and install any updates.
On the PS4, you can clear the PS4 Cache manually by turning the console off, unplugging it for a minute and then plugging it back in.
If nothing else works, you can try deleting the Madden 20 installation that failed and starting over.

If you are flying through Madden 20 MUT challenges, you will likely see this error message. This happens when you complete a match in the challenges and it has not registered with EA.
I’ve found that the best way to fix this error is to exit out of the challenges and go into the main Ultimate Team menu. I normally go check for packs or look at my team for a second and then it will catch up.
If you see this error frequently, you may need to check your internet connection, but this appears to be something on EA’s end.
How to Fix Missing Madden 20 Bonus Items
If you run into issues finding your Madden 20 bonus items, you need to double-check in the MUT section of the game.
Keep in mind, you need to redeem your code to get this
Go to Unopened Packs, and you should see your content there. If you don’t, it may be due to sharing the game. If you share with friends only the first player gets the bonus items.
When this issue happened last year the way to fix it on the Xbox One was to;
- Turn the Xbox completely off.
- Unplug the power cable for 2-3 minutes.
- Plug the cable in, turn the Xbox on and open Madden 19.
- Go to MUT, to Store and Claim Packs even if it says 0.

How to Fix Madden 20 PC Problems
We’re hearing reports of Madden 20 stuttering graphics and choppy audio. If you run into these, you can try a few options.
Turn off Orging In-Game in the Origin client on your PC. Turn off any other overlays.
EA also suggests disabling full-screen optimizations. To do this, find the Madden 20 .exe on your PC, right-click on it then choose Properties -> Compatibility -> Disable Fullscreen optimizations.
Another suggestion is to turn off Bluetooth headphones and see if that solves the issue.
Users report the best fix so far has been running the Madden 20 process in Realtime in task manager and using DirectX 11.
How to Fix Madden 20 Lag and Connection Issues
If you cannot play Madden 20 online without lag, connection issues or without using voice chat you may need to open ports on your network.
Before you go that far, I recommend restarting your console, router, and even your modem. This can solve a lot of issues.
If that doesn’t help, you can try opening ports on your PC or console. Here is a rundown of the ports to open.
How to Fix Madden 20 Controller Mapping Issues
On PC, users are running into controller mapping issues. When this happens your controller will not register the right button in the game that you are pressing on the controller.
Open Origin and repair the game. This will solve some of the mapping issues, but it apparently will not fix calling a time out after every play. For that fix, you will need to wait for EA to issue a patch.

On the PS4 some users are not seeing Madden 20 points appear right away. If this happens to you, you can contact EA and Sony for help.
Some users report waiting a few hours solves the problem, but it’s not the best solution.

QB1 is the new upgrade for the Franchise mode that allows you to play as the main character in your franchise. This allows you to create a quarterback, pick your college and then work your way into the NFL. It's not confirmed yet, but we could see face scanning using your phone, similar to how other sports games handle the create a player. This will let you work through the College playoffs, the NFL Combine, the NFL Draft, breaking into the NFL and then eventually playing in the Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl. This ties into the new Scenario Engine that combines your on field and off field actions to influence the next steps. Unlike the story mode in Madden 19, this new mode focuses on creating personalized in game options. This all leads up to the start of the typical Franchise mode, so this is a tie in, not a full new mode that stands alone and then stops as soon as you hit the pros. | ||||||||||||

My pre play menu disappeared and it won’t re appear even when I hit the Right stick in. Any update or fix?

Franchise mode appears to be broken. On the PS4 Pro, franchise mode will crash during the pregame loading screen 100% of the time. I’ve played 3 games in year one and that’s it. Tried everything including restarting my PS4, resetting my PS4, etc. I’ve heard EA customer service is a nightmare so hopefully this will be fixed sooner than later if enough gamers are experiencing the same issue.

I’m having the same problem on my Xbox One. I edited the rosters, went into franchise mode and when the game starts loading, it crashes and sends me back to the dashboard. Just for the heck of it, I tried starting a franchise with unedited rosters … started right up. This sucks. I edited the rosters for a reason. I hope EA gets their head out of their backside and fixes this problem ASAP.

Why does Madden Franchise not work when you Custom Rosters on Madden 20? Ever since I’ve gotten it, its always said along the lines of, “Error, Madden Servers are down. You have been returned to Main Menu. Please try again later”. Thing is, I’ve tried again later but still doesn’t work. EA, please fix this bug.

I am fumbling 5 times a game. In a 16 games season I fumbled over 45 times. I get sacked 8-12 times a game. Illegal man downfield penatly 3-4 times a game. Little ridic imo

I made an offline franchise and played a game where my running back got hurt and when I loaded my online franchise and my running back is hurt there instead…

Alot of times before the end of the game it wont show me a play to pick and the game just stops working. I Uninstalled and reinstalled it and its still happening. And in head to head it does not show my stats when I try to compare with my past opponents

I started an offline franchise mode as a RB but all of my goals set forth by the coach are QB related. My second game of preseason I was supposed to have a QBR of 95 or higher. On top of that I haven’t gotten to play a snap yet.
