Apple's making changes to several first-party apps, but the changes it's making to the Health app could have a significant impact on your health or the health of a loved one.

The company's worked with clinics, hospitals, and medical providers to add a brand new "Health Records" feature to the stock Health application.

Medical providers include Johns Hopkins Medicine, Cedars-Sinai, Penn Medicine, Geisinger Health System, UC San Diego Health, UNC Health Care, Rush University Medical Center, Dignity Health, Ochsner Health System, MedStar Health, Ohio Health, and Cerner Healthe Clinic. More will come later.

With iOS 11.3 installed, the Health app will aggregate medical records into one spot, the Health app, for easy access.

Patients from these participating medical institutions will also receive regular notifications for their lab results, medications, conditions, and more.

Apple says all Health Records data is encrypted and protected with a passcode.
