Expect a Limited Downgrade

If you've run an iOS beta on your iPhone or iPad this is common knowledge. If this will be your first time installing an iOS beta know that your downgrade options will be limited.

The iOS 11 beta will cause problems. And if those problems become too hard to handle, you might want to drop back down to an official version of iOS in an effort to improve your device's performance.

Unfortunately, you can expect your downgrade options to be limited to one, maybe two, versions of iOS 10.

In the case of iOS 11 beta 1, you'll be able to downgrade to iOS 10.3.3, iOS 10.3.2, and/or iOS 10.3.1. The iOS 10.3.1 and iOS 10.3.2 downgrades will eventually close but you'll always be able to downgrade to the current version of iOS.

You won't, and this goes for future versions of iOS 11 beta, be able to downgrade to anything older. So if you head to the iOS 11 beta from iOS 9 or an older iOS 10 update like iOS 10.2, you won't be able to return.

This is something you'll need to weigh, particularly if you're using an older update on a device like the iPhone 5s.

Also note that you can’t restore a backup made on iOS 11 to that device, so you may lose a week of backup.
