iOS 11 Beta Release & Time: 7 Things to Expect & 5 Things Not To
Don't Expect Every iOS 11 Feature in the Beta
Don't expect the iOS 11 update to be the full version of iOS 11. Unless Apple announces the iPhone 8/iPhone 7s on stage at WWDC 2017, the company will probably keep some iOS 11 features under wraps until the rumored iPhone 8 launch in the fall. The most recent examples include iPhone 7 Plus' Portrait mode (also known as Bokeh mode) and the Live Photos feature Apple debuted on stage alongside the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. The iPhone 8 will probably come with some exclusive software features that don't make an appearance in the iOS 11 beta. Don't be surprised if some iOS 11 beta features aren't available on older iPhones and iPads due to hardware limitations. The iPhone 5 iOS 10 update didn't include burst photo mode, slow-motion video mode, or voicemail transcription and the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus iOS 10 updates failed to bring the Raise to Wake that's prominent on newer devices.
