iPhone 6s Upgrade: Best Old iPhone Trade-in Values
If you are planning an iPhone 6s upgrade now is the time to think about what you will do with your old iPhone. One of the most popular action is to sell it or trade it for cash or credit towards your new iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus. Here is a look at the best old iPhone trade-in values and why you should check this out well ahead of the iPhone 6s release date.
Even if your old iPhone is literally an old iPhone, like the iPhone 5 or iPhone 4s, there is still a lot of value in that device. We take the hard work out of comparing prices and services so you can see the best old iPhone trade in values around.
We’ll take a look at trading in an old iPhone, selling the old iPhone yourself and options for trading in at a carrier if you are switching from one carrier to another.
Most of the iPhone trade-in services are available for sellers to lock in a price without completely locking in to selling to that service, so you secure the best iPhone trade-in values at multiple sites and still jump on any special offers that come up after the event.
When you choose an old iPhone trade-in at many of these options you don’t need to pay for shipping and you can often request a box to ship your device back in.
“The anticipation of the newest Apple device always drives an uptick in trade-ins for NextWorth, and we’ve seen particular interest in tomorrow’s announcement, with a 74% increase in iPhone trade-ins over the same period last year.” Jeff Trachsel, CMO of NextWorth tells Gotta Be Mobile, explaining that, “Even though this announcement will likely be an ‘S’ version with little to no form factor changes, consumers seem to continue to have an ever-growing interest in new iPhones and trade-in companies like NextWorth are playing a key role in helping them upgrade”
While there is an uptick in the percentage of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus trade-ins at NextWorth this year, trading in an even older device is still a great way to save on an iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus upgrade.
Here is a breakdown of the best old iPhone trade-in prices and best-selling prices for your old iPhone at NextWorth, Orchard, GameStop, Gazelle, eBay, Best Buy, Apple, AT&T, Amazon and others. You can click on the links below to go directly to that phone.

We look at the trade-in or sale values for devices in like new condition when possible and in most cases on AT&T or Verizon as these are often the highest values outside of an unlocked iPhone. A scratched or broken screen, water damage or other broken features will drop the value and all these sources will test the device and offer an appropriate value, which may be lower if you are not up front about the condition of the phone.
With the Orchard App, which is a relatively new to the U.S. player in iPhone trade-in services, there are a variety of options that promise a good deal of value.
The Orchard iPhone trade-in prices vary based on the condition of the phone, and the Orchard app helps users figure out the precise condition. Orchard CEO Bruno Wong tells Gotta Be Mobile, the trade in prices are, “on the high end of things because there are too many potential prices a seller could receive to include everything in a spreadsheet.”
Wong further explains why Orchard believes this is good for you, explaining, “The benefit here is, instead of getting the choice between saying their phone is in just “flawless” or “good” condition and accepting the price difference, our sellers see more incremental changes in their offer. Regardless, we guarantee that the range we’ll pay for an iPhone is higher than any other reseller, sometimes even 70% higher than what Gazelle will offer you.” To check this out, you need to download the Orchard app from iTunes to get started.
The value listed for eBay does not include the amount you need to pay for listing and auction fees. It is also an estimated value, not the exact amount you will get and assumes you include the box, charger and headphones.
When using Glyde to sell an old iPhone the selling value is an estimate of market price, and you can expect to get the amount listed below the value you set as your price on the service.
You can choose to get paid in multiple ways for your old iPhone. Pay attention to the options as they include cash, Amazon credit, PayPal, Check, carrier credit or a combination of store credit and discounts.

GameStop and Gazelle are probably the worse from that list… Strange that this article does not mention sites like Swappa, CellCashier or Glyde. People can receive much more money on these sites for their old iPhones.
