If you plan on using Apple's iPhone Upgrade Program to upgrade to the iPhone XR, you should get started on your pre-order right now. Current members of the iPhone Upgrade Program can get a head start on an iPhone XR pre-order by using the Apple Store app. Open up the Apple Store app, select the iPhone XR model you want, and go through Apple's pre-approval process through Citizen One. The process can take some time so if you do it now, you'll be ready to fly through your pre-order when they go live on Friday.
