Macaulay Culkin Goes Home Alone Again With Google Assistant

Home Alone is one of the best Christmas movies you can watch, and now you can re-live it with Macaulay Culkin and Google Assistant. The 38 year old actor goes back to the McCallister house, revisiting classic moments with the help of the Google Assistant on an Android phone and using a Google Home Hub to check his schedule and see the front door when the pizza guy shows up. There’s a Google Home Mini in the bedroom and again to set a routine into motion to scare off Harry and Marv.

In all Kevin uses Google Assistant on three devices in ways that tier into the movie. If you already have an Android Phone, you can start using Google Assistant by saying “Hey Google” or “Ok Google.” From there you can add items to a chopping list or set reminders.

With a Google Assistant enabled display like the Google Home Hub, or my favorite the Lenovo Smart Display, you can see who is at your door when you have a smart doorbell like the Nest Hello doorbell. You can also use Google Assistant on the Google Home Mini, phone or on a smart display to set the heat with Nest, Ecobee and many other smart thermostats.

At the end of the hilarious ad, we see Kevin trigger a routine called Operation Kevin that combines a number of actions into one command. In this case it;

• Turns on a light
• Locks the front door with an August lock
• Turns on the fireplace
• Starts playing Christmas music
• Sends a robot vacuum on the move with a dance partner on top
• Starts the toy train to give NBA player a tour of the room
