If you aren't committed to the Nexus 5X and you're willing to wait a few more weeks, you should have a few more top notch Android devices to choose from.

Next month, Samsung will showcase its Galaxy Note 8, its highly anticipated successor to the Galaxy Note 7. You know, the phone that started blowing up last year.

Before it started blowing up, the Galaxy Note 7 was widely considered to be one of the top smartphones on the market and we expect the Galaxy Note 8 to pickup where it left off.

With Galaxy Note 8 rumors starting to pickup we're seeing retailers slash the price of the Galaxy S8 and we could see more Galaxy deals emerge once the Note 8 is revealed giving you some nice budget alternatives to the Nexus 5X.

On top of that, Google is reportedly planning to debut new Pixel-branded devices (the Nexus brand is dead for now) later this year.

The new Pixels will give you new options and they could drive the prices of the current Pixels (Pixel, Pixel XL) down even further.

One other thing to note: Unlike the Nexus 5X, the Pixel and Pixel XL should get at least one more major Android update after Android O and security updates until 2019.

Bootloop issue alone should be enough reason to avoid the 5X at this point. Otherwise it is indeed a pretty great phone… but if you need to rely on it, I’d avoid it. If you’re gonna buy a used 5X, make sure you get all the info so you can send it back to LG when it stops working. I’m on my 3rd replacement myself.
