The OtterBox Resurgence is an iPhone 6 battery case that combines added power with the protection of an OtterBox case without adding much more bulk than a traditional battery case. A new Auto Stop feature makes the OtterBox Resurgence the smartest iPhone 6 battery case you can buy.
Once you snap the iPhone 6 inside the OtterBox Resurgence the combination feels ready to go anywhere you want, other than in water. OtterBox cases are not waterproof, but there is a Lifeproof waterproof iPhone 6 battery case in the works if you need that type of protection.
In addition to a solid design, OtterBox includes a very smart battery charging option and enough juice to keep the iPhone 6 going for almost two days without plugging in.
The OtterBox Resurgence case is $99.95 and includes a 2,600mAh battery with a one year warranty on the case. It is available in black, gray, red and mint color options.
When plugged in to power the iPhone 6 charged first, then the case. This means the iPhone is always charged to the greatest level even if you only have a bit of time to charge. The OtterBox Resurgence case features auto stop charge which stops charging when the phone reaches 100%. This is great because keeping your iPhone at 100% wastes the case battery power. By auto shutting off you can use that power wisely to recharge later when the iPhone battery gets closer to 20% left.
There is a battery life indicator on the back and a button to turn charging on and off. A full charge on the iPhone and on the case is enough to last more about two days of heavy use with two charges from the case.
In terms of protection the OtterBox Resurgence case sits somewhere between the OtterBox Defender and the OtterBox Commuter lines at first glance. There is no soft rubber outer layer like the Defender cases use, but there is a nice lip on the front of the phone to keep the screen safe during drops and the whole case and iPhone 6 combination feels like one single piece of tech.
The case snaps on tight, and it is actually very hard to get off. This is good news if you drop the iPhone 6, but it is a pain if you want to switch cases. Thankfully the OtterBox Resurgence case supports pass through connectivity so you don’t need to remove it from the case to sync to a computer or to connect to a car. Just use any Micro USB cable, including the very nice cable that ships with the case to sync or play music just like you would with a Lightning cable.
OtterBox covers the buttons with a soft rubber material that make them easy to press and there is a handy slider switch to handle the mute switch. Nothing covers the iPhone screen or the home button. The raised edges are beveled inward so it is still possible to use the swiping gestures that make the iPhone 6 and iOS 8 much easier to use.
Due to the placement of the Lightning connection and headphone jack on the bottom of the case some headphones require the included adapter to function. Apple headphones and other small plugs work without the adapter. The case ports the speakers to the front, amplifying them slightly and directing the audio at you so it is easier to hear.
The iPhone 6 OtterBox Resurgence case is an incredible battery case that offers a great deal of protection. The $99 is less than the $119 price of the iPhone 6 Mophie Juice Pack Plus, another great battery case that also offers a lot of protection.
You can’t go wrong with the OtterBox Resurgence case for the iPhone 6 if you need extra power and significant protection for your iPhone, and it helps that the price is reasonable and the case doesn’t add too much bulk.
Apple Leather iPhone 6 Cases
One of the most popular iPhone 6 cases is the leather iPhone 6 case from Apple. This case is one that you can find in any Apple Store on release day and is also listed with many carriers.
Apple designs the leather iPhone 6 case with premium leather in a small form factor that adds minimal bulk to the new iPhone. You can find the leather iPhone 6 case in five color options that match the white and black front of the iPhone 6.
Watch out if you buy the red iPhone 6 case as the leather model for the iPhone 5s wore very fast and looked dirty and grey soon after purchasing.
