The watchOS 6.0.1 update is compatible with the Apple Watch Series 3, Series 4 and Series 5. If you own the Apple Watch Series 1 or Series 2, you can’t install this update yet. You may need to wait for watchOS 6.1 to deliver compatibility.

It also promises performance and security updates for the Apple Watch. The watchOS 6 update is pretty big, so you need to plan on spending a decent amount of time on downloading and installing the update. If you are already on that update, the watchOS 6.0.1 update is smaller and installs faster.
