6 Reasons to Wait for the OnePlus 6T & 4 Reasons Not To

Published

The new and improved OnePlus 6T is only a few weeks away, and it’s a phone worth waiting for. In fact, the OnePlus 6T could be the best phone of 2018. This guide will go over a few reasons why you should, and maybe shouldn’t, wait for the company’s next flagship phone. We also have new information on the stunningly sleek design.

If you’re looking for a new phone there are plenty of excellent choices available now or coming soon. From the Galaxy Note 9 and LG V40 to the upcoming Pixel 3 XL. And while the Galaxy Note 9 or OnePlus 6 both have plenty to offer, we recommend waiting.

Just like we’ve seen in prior years, we’re expecting OnePlus to improve the 6’s design and introduce an all-new OnePlus 6T this fall. It must compete with Samsung, Google, and even Apple. Meaning you can expect the latest specs, hardware, and exciting features. In fact, the company is positioned to deliver exciting features like an in-display fingerprint scanner ahead of the Galaxy S10 in 2019.

OnePlus 6T Leaks, Rumors, & Speculation

Right now everyone is looking at phones from popular brands like Samsung and Apple. We think the OnePlus 6T might be better than all of them. That’s because recent info suggests the company will use new technology like an in-display fingerprint scanner, powerful specs, faster charging, and a tiny notch delivering a truly edge-to-edge display. Essentially putting the iPhone Xs and Note 9 to shame. We’ve even seen some neat concept videos teasing exactly that.

Did you know that OnePlus, Oppo, and Vivo are all part of the same company? That means stunning phones like the Vivo NEX or Oppo Find X all share the same technology with OnePlus. As a result, the OP6T has a small notch similar to the recently released Oppo R11. Well, at least according to images of the retail box that recently leaked.

If we had to guess, the OnePlus 6T will beat Apple at its own game by delivering a tiny notch similar to the picture above. Between the bezel and the notch is one of two dual speakers, too. This way they can deliver a truly edge-to-edge screen. It’ll likely be the same 6.28-inches as the OnePlus 6, although some leaks claim it’ll be a 6.4-inch screen.

Basically, we think the OnePlus 6T will offer a very similar experience to what’s already available, only better in a few key areas. Those being the screen, shrinking the notch and an in-display fingerprint scanner. Look out for wireless charging, IP68 dust and water-resistance, and a few other mainstream features.

While the release date is probably sometime in November, new leaks and images suggest an event and release date around mid-October. The 17th, to be exact.

If you find yourself struggling on whether you should get a Pixel 3, Note 9, or even an iPhone Xs Max, our slideshow below will walk you through some reasons to, and not to, wait for the rumored OnePlus 6T.

Wait for a Big Screen & Lots of Horsepower

Wait for a Big Screen & Lots of Horsepower

For the last few years, OnePlus has delivered phones that compete with (or beat) the very best Android has to offer. All while doing it for significantly less money.

The OnePlus 6 is as good or better than the Galaxy S9+ or Note 9, yet it's only $529. We're expecting that trend to continue with a big screen and plenty of horsepower on the OnePlus 6T. Basically, wait for the 6T. You can expect the latest Snapdragon 845 (just like the Galaxy Note 9) or maybe even Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 850 or 855 processor.

Last year the OnePlus 5T had a big 6-inch screen, but the newer OnePlus 6 is even bigger at 6.3-inches. We believe the company will offer the same big screen or potentially a slightly larger 6.4-inch display thanks to the smaller notch.

Each year they've made the "T" bigger and better than the phone from earlier in the year, and we're expecting that again in 2018. And while it'll likely have a lot of the same specs on the inside, like 6-8BG of RAM, we could see a few surprises.

Either way, this will be OnePlus' biggest, best and fastest phone of the year. Wait for it!
