Wait for an In-Display Fingerprint Scanner (Maybe)
So far rumors for almost every phone on the horizon point to two or three things. Those being a bigger edge-to-edge display, multiple cameras, and fingerprint scanners inside the screen.
Yes, the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL will ditch the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and potentially put an optical or ultrasonic sensor under the screen. This way you can naturally tap the screen to securely unlock your phone.
We've seen this from the OnePlus 6T, 7 Pro, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, the Galaxy S10, Note 10, and we'll see it on most high-end phones in 2019. As everyone else starts to do it, you can bet Google will jump on board and offer something similar.
That all being said, new reports back in July suggested the Pixel 4 will have no fingerprint scanner of any kind, because Google likes to copy Apple. Instead, the front of these phones could have a typical forehead housing 5 sensors and cameras for great photography and some powerful new facial recognition unlock tech.
Face unlock and no fingerprint sensor anywhere. We hope this is wrong, but it's looking likely.
