Get Familiar with Android 8.0 and Experience 9.0 UI

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are powered by Android Oreo and it's important to get familiar with the new OS, and Samsung's new UI, before you buy.

Samsung's version of Android 8.0 Oreo comes with numerous changes to the look and feel of its user interface. The company calls this iteration of Samsung Experience (formerly known as TouchWiz), Samsung Experience 9.0.

There's a new keyboard, a new Color Lens feature, tweaks to the Quick Panel, new Edge features, and an assortment of customization options. Some of these jump right off the page when you navigate around, others are much harder to find.

We expect the Samsung Galaxy S9's software to come with many of these changes and some changes of its own.

The Galaxy S9's software also comes with knock-off of Apple's Animoji feature on the iPhone X. If you're unfamiliar, check out how Animojis work

We've put together a guide to the Galaxy S8's version of Android Oreo and the Samsung Experience 9.0 user interface.

We've also released a guide to the base version of Android Oreo and it's worth a look if you're unsure about the differences between Nougat and Oreo.

Getting familiar with the software that powers the Galaxy S9 ahead of time will help make your transition to a new device a whole lot smoother.

There will still be an adjustment period, but you'll feel far more comfortable with the software.
