Battlefield 1 DLC: 5 Things to Know Right Now

The first Battlefield 1 DLC expansion for PS4, Xbox One and PC is confirmed and today we want to take an early look at what we know about the Battlefield 1 DLC release dates, content, and more.

The Battlefield 1 release date has come and gone and EA DICE’s brand new shooter is now out for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC.

The game features a solid single player campaign and a deep multiplayer experience that will get even deeper thanks to free updates and upcoming Battlefield 1 DLC expansion packs.

EA DICE is currently offering a Battlefield 1 Premium Pass (also known as a Season Pass) which allows gamers to buy the game’s upcoming DLC.

The first piece of paid Battlefield 1 DLC is confirmed for early next year and today we want to take a look at everything you need to know, right now, about the Premium Pass and the game’s upcoming expansion packs.

The company is mum about some of the important details so we’ll outline a few of our expectations here as well.

Check back here for regular updates. We’ll continue to update this roundup with new and important information.

Battlefield 1 Premium Pass

EA DICE’s Battlefield 1 Premium Pass is now available and it confirms a number of key details for PC, Xbox One and PS4 owners.

The Battlefield 1 Premium Pass, like the Star Wars Battlefront Season Pass, is priced at $50. Or, $10 less than the price of the game.

For your $50, you’ll get all four planned Battlefield 1 DLC expansion packs and you’ll also get an excellent perk.

If you pickup a copy of the Battlefield 1 Premium Pass you’ll get access to all of the DLCs two weeks before everyone else. This also mirrors what EA did with the Star Wars Battlefront Season Pass on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Battlefield 1 Premium Pass Deals

The Battlefield 1 Premium Pass isn’t available everywhere just yet but we expect retailers to put it on sale for Xbox One, PS4 and PC in the near future.

We also expect to see Battlefield 1 Premium Pass deals emerge on sites like Green Man Gaming giving you a chance to save some money on the $50 price tag.

Look for these deals to emerge this month and next as we push into the holidays. We’ve already seen a number of Battlefield 1 Black Friday deals emerge so keep your eyes wide open in late November.

Battlefield 1 They Shall Not Pass DLC

EA DICE is planning four Battlefield 1 DLC expansion packs for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The first Battlefield 1 DLC add-on is called “They Shall Not Pass”.

The Battlefield 1 They Shall Not Pass DLC will focus on France and it will add new multiplayer maps, and more, to the game.

There’s speculation the DLC might focus on the Battle of Somme and the Battle of Verdun.

Official details about the French army, the new maps and the rest of the DLC’s content are scarce at the moment and we don’t expect EA DICE to elaborate for several weeks at least. We expect the first concrete details to emerge in early 2017.

So, if you’re planning to buy the Battlefield 1 Premium Pass in the near future, you’ll be doing so with very little information.

Three More Battlefield 1 DLC Expansions

The company hasn’t named the remaining three Battlefield 1 DLC expansions though it does note that an “upcoming expansion will bring the Russian Empire into the battle.”

The company also notes that the four Battlefield 1 DLC packs will bring 16 new multiplayer maps, new Operations and game modes, new elite classes, 20 new weapons, and more vehicles.

EA says that “details and release dates for each expansion pack” are coming soon. How soon is anyone’s guess at this point.

Battlefield 1 DLC Release Dates

Before the paid DLC arrives EA DICE will release a free map for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC users.

The first free Battlefield 1 DLC, dubbed Giant’s Shadow, will arrive in December alongside a free update for all three platforms. Here is how EA DICE describes Giant’s Shadow:

Prepare to take part in the Battle of the Selle in the cold autumn of 1918. Here, the fighting moves out of the trenches and into open country where a massive crashed airship casts its shadow onto the battlefield. The British forces have broken through the Hindenburg line and are now in pursuit towards an important railway center. Fierce infantry and tank engagements ensue on the open ground and river banks alongside the Cateu-Wassigny railway where an armored train can still turn the tide.

Those who pre-ordered a copy of Battlefield 1 get the Giant’s Shadow map a week before those who failed to pre-order the game.

EA DICE says that it will be releasing new details regarding Giant’s Shadow in the near future. Keep an eye out for an announcement.

As for the first paid Battlefield 1 DLC expansion pack, it will arrive in early 2017. For Premium Pass holders at least.

The Battlefield 1 They Shall Not Pass release date is confirmed for March though we assume this is for Premium Pass holders.

These release windows usually don’t apply to those that buy the DLC add-ons as a standalone piece of content.

As for the three other expansion packs, EA typically puts a couple of months between its DLC releases so we’d expect the second DLC add-on to emerge in May or June of next year.

Battlefield 1 DLC Price

Nothing is confirmed but the Battlefield 1 Premium Pass price hints at the price of the individual Battlefield 1 DLC expansion packs.

With the Premium Pass price set at $50, we expect each add-on to cost $15 on its own. Season passes always offer a bit of a deal and we’d expect the Premium Pass to offer the same $10 discount EA gave to Battlefront Season Pass holders.

We fully expect these DLCs to be sold as standalone pieces of content giving those that skip the Premium Pass a chance to buy them.
